UNDERTAKE FOR ME - PART 3

We spend so much of our lives trying to be strong - for our families, for the people who depend on us, and sometimes simply to convince ourselves that we’re all right. But faith doesn’t live in the make-believe; it functions in reality. We don’t have to pretend that we have it all together, because none of us do. We all get tired, we all battle fear, and we all reach our limits. Sometimes the most honest expression of our faith is admitting that we can’t carry the load any further. Surrendering things to God isn’t giving up; it’s giving over to God what we weren’t meant to carry or control. God might not handle the situation according to our expectations or our timetable, but He will always handle it according to His wisdom, His power, and His will.

THERE IS A PLACE BY ME

The truth is that we can’t remain close to everything and still remain close to Him. There are habits, attitudes, relationships, and distractions that slowly create distance between us and God. God invites us to come closer, but that invitation requires a response. There are some things that we must be willing to leave and some places where we can no longer remain. But whatever we leave can’t compare to what we discover when we’re nearer to Him. There is a place where our hearts can become settled, where our faith can become stronger, and where our lives can be changed. The closer that we get to God, the less we will miss and be drawn towards what pulled us away.

BUT THIS MAN

There are some problems that we can fix, some failures that we can overcome, and some debts that we can repay. But sin created within us a problem that we could never solve and a debt that we could never pay. No amount of effort, religion, or sacrifice could ever make us right with God. That’s why Jesus didn’t come to show us a better way; Jesus came to become the only Way. He did everything necessary to provide our salvation, and what He accomplished is complete, sufficient, and settled forever.

THE BATTLE NEEDS MORE THAN YOUR CONCERN

Battles reveal the difference between those who care about something and those who are committed to making a difference. There is a battle raging all around us. It’s a battle that we know about, but it’s a battle that we’re supposed to be engaged in. It’s one thing to notice the needs, but it’s another to accept personal responsibility. And yet, that’s exactly what we’re called to do. There comes a moment when our concern must become action. We must do more than be aware of the battle or be moved by the battle; we must take our place in the battle.
