First Christian Church of Girard, IL Christian Church Please join us on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. for a light breakfast fellowship followed by 9:15 a.m. Sunday School for youth & adults.

We also provide a Nursery for babies through age 3. Additionally, we offer Sunday evening youth groups. Our Middle School youth, grades 6-8, meet at the church on the 2nd & 4th Sunday from 5-6:30 p.m. High School youth meet at the church on the 1st & 3rd Sundays from 5-6:30 p.m.

Romans 5:1-8
Faith is a common theme for the Apostle Paul to write about and in Romans he boldly aligns it to peace with God. He adds the additional challenge that we can rejoice in our sufferings. For folks still bound by the law and others who equated suffering to God’s personal revenge this is significant. Still, I’m guessing many of us today struggle with rejoicing amidst our darkest times. Perhaps much of our difficulty comes from where we set our gaze. Paul uses words and concepts, like perseverance, character and hope and punctuates his work by reminding us that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. And no matter what, we have access to the love of God. Amen to that! Blessings,

Scott and Marlene, who head up our Faith Builders team at FCC, are so thankful for everyone who braved the heat at the golf outing to serve hot dogs, brats, and sides to the golfers!!! This ministry does so much for our church!!!
Scott was unable to be in the pictures because he also had to attend his grandson's graduation. Thank you, Faith Builders, for your dedication and service to our church.

Genesis 12:9, Romans 4:13-25
The Apostle Paul addresses the Roman church and does so by invoking the name of Abraham. The root of Paul’s teaching is FAITH. He spends considerable time extolling Abraham’s faith is the reason for his justification. One phrase almost has a challenge to it. “Without weakening in the faith.” Therein lies a challenge for us in the 21st century.
Can we do what is asked of us? Can we stand against the headwinds of a society willing to dismiss the church? Can we witness, with some risk, without weaking in the faith?
We can, but we must be intentional, and we must employ faith.
