First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City, IA First Lutheran Church of Gilmore City, IA, was organized February 1, 1930 under the leadership of Pastor H. Stave. The home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. H. E. A.

In 1930, the Presbyterian Church building and parsonage were purchased. Between September 1936 and January 1937, the church was rebuilt and enlarged. In 1940, the congregation celebrated its 10th anniversary with a reunion of confirmation classes. In 1942, new stained glass windows were installed and a new Hammond organ purchased. Al Mess was purchased in 1946 for use as a parsonage. In 1955, al

l former pastors spoke at the 20th anniversary celebration. Upgrades and remodels followed throughout the 60’s, an Altar Guild was organized during the 70’s and the Lutheran Book of Worship was introduced. In preparation for the 50th anniversary of the congregation in 1980, a new organ was installed; it is still in use today. The 75th anniversary was celebrated in 2005, with a church cookbook to mark that occasion. The 85th anniversary of the congregation was celebrated in 2015, with worship, music, mission projects and special Sunday School activities. May the Lord bless First Lutheran Church as its people continue to celebrate God’s great goodness in the church’s past & present, and as they look forward to serving the Lord together in years to come! Our thanks to Kris Nerem-Lowery and TRIO for allowing our Rachel Circle to tour their facility at Iowa Central Community College! Our women's group served a meal and met some of the TRIO students on campus this summer. We also learned more about the important work TRIO does to serve low-income, first-generation college students as they work to achieve their academic & career goals. Many thanks to Kris and her staff for a fun day out with this great program. TRIO is a blessing, and we're excited to share our support!

Nachos, tacos & the Parable of the Good Samaritan at our final night of PARABLE POWER VBS at FLC! We got to know our Samaritan parable, shared some music, and assembled Loving Heart wind chimes Together we learned what Jesus actually means when He says "Love your neighbor"--- WOW! We ended our night praying around the Prayer Pole for our families and ALL of our neighbors in Christ.

BIG THANKS to our dedicated VBS staff, and to all our parents, grandparents & community friends who helped with our kitchen, our crafts & stories, our crazy supply lists & our time together! Your love & support in Jesus' name is a blessing to us!
