Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church - "Cat Creek"

Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church - "Cat Creek" Baptist Church in wonderful rural country setting since 1845. In the year 1845, Rev. Willeam McCammon organized and established the Mt. J.Y.

Pleasant No. 1 Baptist Church of Harrison County. Criswell gave a tract of land to be used for church and cemetery purposes. The first church building was constructed of logs and was located at the west side of the cemetery. The Congregation soon outgrew this first building and in 1860 a larger building was erected. It was closed for 2 years during the war between the states when, for safety reaso

ns, all public gatherings were banned. On account of the size and manner of construction this building, was considered unsafe and was torn down in 1899. In the same year a new building was erected by Rev. William McGown who was pastor of the church. It was to have a new location at the east side of the cemetery. The building was all finished and was dedicated in the Spring of 1900 with Rev. McGown preaching the dedication sermon.

IN ME
John 6:47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
John 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

John 17:23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

IN MY (HIS) NAME

John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
The following verses do not use specific “In Him” phrases, but they do convey the message of who you are, what you have and what you can do because you are in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 18:18-20 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 11:23-24 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, „Be removed and be cast into the sea,‟ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.

1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1 John 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

STUDY ON FAITH (Some of my study notes from 10 years ago!)
Hebrews 11:1
The demons believed in Jesus, they knew who he was

(James 2:19) The Living Bible 19 Are there still some among you who hold that “only believing” is enough? Believing in one God? Well, remember that the demons believe this too—so strongly that they tremble in terror!

Faith without a foundation is dead
Faith without works is dead; James 2:14-26
Faith that does not show substance isn’t faith
You will do what you believe; the evidence of it will be visible in your life
Being led by the Spirit is the most important thing for a Christian. (Faith goes hand in hand with being led by The Spirit)
Faith is the spoken word of God in your heart to you that you know that you know even that the written word is true!
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galatians 5:18
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

SPIRIT, SOUL & BODY
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Hebrews 4:12
I am a Spirit, I have a soul and I live in a body.
You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you have a body
We don’t have a spirit---we are a spirit and have a soul
If you have a spirit – then who are you?
At death your spirit goes to be present with the Lord, your body goes to the grave.
After death experiences
Lazarus and blind man;
You are not your body you are a spirit
Jesus breathed on them and said receive ye the Holy Spirit; John 20:22
Adam & Eve were separated from God (God’s Spirit) Jesus gave it back to those that would believe and receive!
Spirit of man is the candle of the Lord\
It’s the Spirit man that is born again!!
2 Cor 5:17
Are all things new in you? Yes they are because the word says so-----but??
Body is not born again!
Mind must be renewed
Spirit of faith in you ----God has not given us a spirit of fear ----opposite of faith.
Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning’s which cannot be uttered.
Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” (Mark 14:36 also)
Jesus’ will different than the father’s?

Luke 22:42 42 saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Your will is not born again.
Your emotions not born again
Your mind is not born again
All things become new (find scripture) 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
Romans 4:16-17 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
What became new was your born again spirit – new creation not tied to the sin of the world anymore but unto Christ Our Lord - God!
Mercy and grace are often confused. While the terms have similar meanings, grace and mercy are not the same. To summarize the difference: mercy is God not punishing us as our sins deserve, and grace is God blessing us despite the fact that we do not deserve it. Mercy is deliverance from judgement. Grace is extending kindness to the unworthy.
Romans 8:14
Acts 8:14 - 16

Psalm 30 below, a psalm of declarative praise, when David was dedicating the House of The Lord to God! Without the dedication of our moral and Godly values of The Lord, a nation cannot stand. Let us rejoice in prayer as we humbly turn from our wicked ways as a nation and embrace and rejoice as a nation turning to the Lord our God!
Psalm 30:10-12 NKJV
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me; LORD, be my helper!" [11] You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, [12] To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Psalm 16:9 NKJV
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.
Ecclesiastes 3:4 NKJV
A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;
Isaiah 61:3 NKJV
To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
Jeremiah 31:4 NKJV
Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.

Believers are Salt and Light
Matthew 5:13 NKJV "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Tasteless Salt is Worthless
Mark 9:49 NKJV "For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.
Mark 9:50 NKJV Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another."

The Test of Knowing Him.
1 John 2:3-6 NKJV
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. [4] He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. [6] He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Do you really know Him?

James 3:5-12 NKJV
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! [6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. [7] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. [8] But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. [9] With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. [10] Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. [11] Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? [12] Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

A Good Servant of Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 4:4-10 NKJV
For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. [6] If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. [7] But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. [8] For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. [9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. [10] For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
