It is with great sadness that we share this news, after a 16-day battle in the ICU at Banner University Medical Center, Molli L. Farmer, did not recover from open heart surgery to replace a leaking Heart Valve. She was surrounded by her family and friends as the medical staff turned off the life support systems. The family expressed great appreciation for the prayers and support received. “Celebration of Life” services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gila Bend on Saturday, June 10th at 3:00pm.

In Mark 14, Pastor David talks about Mary's love and Judas' hatred for Jesus. Mary’s action was particularly beautiful, because in symbolically preparing the Lord for burial, she acted in advance of Jesus’ death and resurrection, rather than afterwards. What a glorious and loving act of faith! And what love and appreciation this act expressed towards Jesus! In contrast, Judas was a failure as a disciple, the most successful hypocrite of all time. He played his part so well that no one but Jesus Himself knew that Judas was a fraud and a pretender. He was as common and as ordinary as the rest of the disciples. He was so ordinary that he never stood out from the rest. He hid behind the camouflage of hypocrisy and no one but Jesus ever realized it.

Jesus knew that the woman was not just a poor widow. She was truly NEEDY. Those two coins were all she had, and when she put them in the box, there was nothing left. The widow’s offering demonstrated her deep love for God. And it showed that she trusted that God would provide food, clothing and everything else that she needed. Her gift was a beautiful sacrifice. No one in the temple noticed this poor woman…BUT JESUS SAW HER! And He used her as an example to teach His disciples about what it means to give sacrificially.

Jesus knew that the woman was not just a poor widow. She was truly NEEDY. Those two coins were all she had, and when she put them in the box, there was nothi...

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Rejoicing is not just a suggestion; it is a command, and it is commanded always. We can always choose to praise the Lord.

What is the greatest commandment? In Mark 12:28-34, Jesus is calling us to love God with all that we are. Heart, soul, mind and strength each speak to different parts of us, but together the emphasis is clear: we are to love God with our entire being. We must love Him with our thoughts, emotions, actions, intellect, and body – with our whole being. Join us in today's sermon as Pastor David continues his exposition of the book of Mark.

The Sadducees were assuming that in the resurrection life human relationships will continue to be the same as they are in this present life. But Jesus informs them that in the resurrection life human relationships will not be the same as they are now. Pastor David talks more about the resurrection in his exposition of Mark 12:18-27.
