Choose your challenge level:
• Rotary Phone Level: Go completely phone-free or make calls only from 5 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday for two entries into our prize drawing!

The food drive aims to help people facing lost or reduced WIC or SNAP benefits during the government shutdown.

UPDATE 11/3: Additional donation sites listed below.

UPDATE 10/31: Additional donation sites listed below.

Gig Harbor families will soon lose access to food.

Due to the federal government shutdown, roughly 15% of Pierce County residents are facing food insecurity and hunger. This includes our 11,000 federal workers who are currently not receiving a paycheck and our 115,000 residents who receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits that are set to lose funding on Nov. 1.

Additionally, the WIC (Women Infant and Child) program will lose funding mid-November. There are nearly 2,500 infants in Pierce County who depend on WIC for their formula. Without WIC funding, families will face the possibility that their babies will starve.

Together we can (and will) help. Support the city’s formula & food drives to support local families who are being gravely affected by the government shutdown. Every contribution helps a neighbor stay fed, housed, and healthy.

Here’s how to help:

Calling all creative minds! 🌟 Do you believe in the power of play over screens? Here’s your chance to make a difference in the lives of our kids!

A Thriving Generation Creative Challenge is looking for a short, powerful slogan that inspires kids to break free from the screen and rediscover real-world fun, creativity, and connection.

Peninsula School District is partnering with local organizations as a part of a community campaign that will officially launch on October 10, World Mental Health Day. 🧠💚

• What we need — A catchy team-created slogan (Think “Just Do It” by Nike or “Make Your World Possible!” by Lego).
• Who can enter — Teams of 2 or more kids, families, and community members.
• Prizes — First-place winners will receive a $250 Ocean5 gift certificate. Three runner-up teams will receive a $50 Fondi’s gift certificate
• Deadline — Friday, June 20 by 5 p.m.

Let’s spark a movement that helps our kids thrive through play, creativity, and real connections. Teams can submit their ideas at www.peninsulathrivegeneration.org
