Lexington Log Cabins & Heritage Center announces its annual membership meeting to ratify officers and approve proposed changes to the By-Laws.
Annual Membership Meeting –A meeting of the general membership is held in the Fall each year to vote on issues pertaining to the general operation and ongoing management of the Heritage Center. This year the meeting will be held on Sunday September 13th at 2:00 p.m in the Heritage Center. All current members and those
interested in becoming members are encouraged to attend.
Agenda – Membership will be asked to approve Sherrie Zgabay, the interim member appointed to the board to fill the position left open by the late Paulette Schultz. Membership will vote to ratify the proposed slate of officers for the coming year. Current board members, acting as a governance committee, will offer proposed updates and amendments to the existing By-Laws. The changes will be outlined and offered for discussion before membership is asked to ratify the changes.
Program – A vintage documentary film about the origins of the miniature town display in the Poston Building has been reformatted to a more current media format. The film includes interviews with Mr. Jerry Poston (creator of the model) as well as several other well known “old timers” who talk about the history of Lexington. The film runs approximately 27 minutes. The Poston Building will be opened afterward for those wishing to see the model. Admission is always free, light refreshments may be provided. Donations are gratefully accepted.

Street, north of the Lexington town square. Lexington Log Cabins & Heritage Center is devoted to collecting, preserving, and interpreting Lee County heritage and providing learning opportunities for young people and those visiting or new to our community. The site features two historic log cabins that represent an important part of Lee County heritage, which were relocated to the current site for the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. The Poston Center and Heritage Center buildings house exhibits and serve as a meeting venue used for speakers and demonstrations about Texas and Lee County heritage.
