Dwelling in the garden – Day 22

Scripture: Philippians 3:1-3 NIV
3 Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. 2 Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—

Dwelling Point: Are you keeping watch? Are you influencing those around you for Christ or are you being influenced by those around you away from Christ? Are others helping you grow in your faith or are you slipping in your faith because of the influence of others? Hold firm when you are influencing those around you toward God and know when to walk away when you are being pulled away from God.

Praying Point: God, I choose to influence others in their faith. I want to win others for You which means I have to go to the battlefield. Lord, keep me strong. Help me stand firm. Help me to know when I need to walk away to protect myself, my faith, and my relationship with you. Lord help me walk away in love, kindness, gentleness and with peace.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 21

Scripture: Philippians 2:14-18 NIV
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Dwelling Point: Well, I guess verse 14 is clear, doesn’t really need an explanation. Apparently if you are are obedient to verse 14 you can become blameless and pure. You will shine. I am not sure about you but sometimes I grumble and can even argue on occasion. I wonder what would happen if in those times, I were to stop and realign my why with God’s purpose for me. What if the next part is the key, the answer, holding firmly to the word of life. You see when I am holding firmly to the word of life, I concentrate on His purpose and not my selfish desires. When I realign, I find that my desires are His desires because that is what brings pure joy. With pure joy grumbling disappears. Rejoicing happens and I can be glad.

Praying Point: Lord when I am tired, help me hold firmly to your Word. When my focus becomes selfish, help me hold firmly to your Word. When I grumble, help me hold firmly to your Word. Help me to understand that withholding myself from your purpose and plan is what steals my gladness and creates the grumbling. Continually teach me, my all for your glory.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 20

Scripture: Philippians 2:12-13 NIV
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Dwelling Point: Do you believe in sanctification? Do you live a continuous process of growth in holiness, where you progressively conform to the image of Christ? Do you continually work toward Christian perfection? Daily are you measuring your growth, realigning yourself for His good purpose?

Praying Point: Lord keep me aligned, each and every day keep me aligned for your good purpose.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 18

Scripture: Philippians 2:6-8 NIV
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Dwelling Point: Matthew 26:39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

In Daniel Ch. 3 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered king in verse 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Genesis 22:11 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

That was biblical, that was then, this is now Open Doors World Watch List, https://www.opendoorsus.org/en-US/persecution/countries/

If I haven’t lost you yet, I end with Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Praying Point: Good, good Father thank you for your Son. Thank you for heroes in the Bible who were willing to lay their life down for You. Thank you for faithful followers today who are willing to lay down their life for You. Please continually teach me this level of faithful obedience. Teach me daily to grow and flee from lukewarm.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 17

Scripture: Philippians 2:5 NIV
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Dwelling Point: Who do I share relationships with? What are those relationships like? What is the mindset of Christ Jesus? How am I doing at humility, service, focus on God’s will, obedience, compassion, forgiveness and prayerful dependence.

Praying Point: Dear Father, in a world where people turn away from others help me keep turning up. When I don’t agree, when I am filled with anger, when it doesn’t line up with my thoughts, desires or beliefs, provide compassion and teach prayerful dependence. When the time comes, allow me not only to forgive but help me, best as possible, to forget the personal hurt. Help me align my heart and mind in service to You.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 14

Scripture: Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Dwelling Point: What if we lived in a world where everyone put other’s interests above their own? What if it starts with me? What if I did NOTHING out of selfish ambition?

Praying Point: Dear Father, make me more like you. Teach me sacrificial living. Teach me how to sincerely pray and live “Yet not as I will, but as you will" so that I may experience You more fully.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 13

Scripture: Philippians 2:1-2 NIV
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Dwelling Point: Test day! Please post any encouragement from being united with Christ. What comfort do you have from his love? What common sharing do you have in the Spirit? What like-mindedness can you share?

Praying Point: Lord today let me share boldly about me and my walk so others can feel our like-mindedness and be strengthened in their daily walk.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 12

Scripture: Philippians 1:28-30 NIV
28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

Dwelling Point: Am I living without fear? Is fear holding me back?
Fear of rejection? Fear of the judgement? Fear of failure? What will it take for you to overcome that fear and step out in service for Jesus?

Praying Point: Lord help me overcome the fear to serve you fully. Help me to step out in faith and trust you more fully.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 11

Scripture: Philippians 1:27 NIV
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit,[e] striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

Dwelling Point: “Striving together as one” I walked into church Wednesday feeling failure and left feeling much the same. Thursday and Friday felt the same and God did not provide any immediate answers, but the world did reward me with one of my wonderful stress headaches (IYKYK). Saturday was a planning day to overcome but still “helpless” prevailed. My commute to church was filled with tears. I began my church time at the alter pleading for guidance or an answer. God is good. Before church I met with a wonderful woman of God who leads so faithfully, and we discussed many things and I left that meeting feeling not alone in the battle. As I was walking back to the children’s department the Praise and Worship team asked if I would lead prayer before they walked into worship and I left feeling part of a team. I walked into the children’s department and saw everyone thriving as they were striving together to lead children to God. I had the distinct pleasure to attend “Big Church” where I was able to meet God in worship only to be interrupted by my son passing out. God is so faithful, the team there to pick him up, support him, care for him and love him was beyond believe. The amount of people who followed up to check on him throughout the day was amazing. Yesterday God allowed me to witness HRC standing firm in The One Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel. More than that, He confirmed that He has so much more in store.

Praying Point:
Thank you good, good father for reassurances as our faith is tested by the world, by our own mind and satan. God I am reminded of Ephesians 6:12; “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness. We are in an intense battle. But I am also reminded of 1 John 4:4 that greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. Therefore, empower us as we fight the good fight of faith. Help us become skilled at putting on the armor of God. You have provided us with everything to become more than conquerors. Thank you for providing us our purpose, thank you for fellow followers and thank you for reassurances along the way.

Dwelling in the garden – Day 10

Scripture: Philippians 1:22-26 NIV
22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.

Dwelling Point: It is clear in Philippians that Christ is at the center of Paul’s life and thoughts. Paul has dedicated his life to glorifying Christ. Paul credits Christ as the meaning of life. Paul’s relentless focus on Christ is food for thought. Are you laboring to bear fruit? What fruit are you producing? As we remain at HRC, in our jobs, in our families is it for progress and joy in the faith? Is my life invested so that others can boast that Jesus Christ abounds in their life?

Praying Point: Lord today I choose to remain where you chose to place me. Today I choose your plan, your purpose. Lord today I want you at the center of my life, not on the peripheral edges. I am thankful for the orchard you have placed me in. Lord show me how I can provide adequate water, how I can ensure proper fertilization, how I can protect against pest and disease, and how to prune so I can promote healthy growth.
