Salem Guldens UM Church - 224 Low Dutch Rd, Gettysburg, Pa 17325 Salem Gulden's United Methodist Church has been in active use since 1856. Our service usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Come say "Hello!"

We are a small rural country church and a growing family that is always excited to meet and greet new faces. Salem Gulden's United Methodist Church and Cemetery is located at 224 Low Dutch Road in Mount Pleasant Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. We are located about 4 1/2 miles east of Gettysburg, just a short distance off of Rt. 30. Church services are held; Worship - 10:45 AM, Sunday School - 9:15 AM every Sunday morning.

In the 1970s, DJs began using two turntables to extend the drum breaks in songs. That’s how block party culture was born — and with it, a new kind of rhythm.
DJ Kool Herc, a Jamaican immigrant, was the first to isolate the "breaks" — moments of pure beat. This sparked the birth of breakdancing, and later, rap.
Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, and others made hip-hop the voice of the streets. Social messages, rhythm, raw energy — it was more than music.
By 1979, the track Rapper’s Delight opened the door to the mainstream.
In the 1980s and 1990s, hip-hop split into styles: gangsta rap, jazz rap, alternative. But it kept its core — authenticity.
