LIFE AFTER EASTER

When Jesus rose from the dead, the lives of his followers took a dramatic turn.

Imagine the resurrection wiping away their doubts, their fears, their skepticism and their depression. All that replaced by surprise and joy. They’d say, “What? He is risen?? Are you serious??? Gosh, he IS risen! Risen, indeed!! Alleluia!!!”

Mary, Peter, John, Lazarus, James, Martha – and all the rest – had to rethink their lives in light of the new reality. Jesus was, indeed, the son of God, the Messiah! And it was TRUE! All that he taught: TRUE! All that he exemplified: TRUE! All that he promised: TRUE!

Jesus’ rising from the dead overturned all their doubts and brought new clarity:

We WILL return to God.
We ARE held in God’s loving embrace.
Our lives have MEANING and PURPOSE.
Aligned with God’s ways, our lives are FULL.
We can live in JOY.
We can live in LOVE.
We can live WITHOUT fear.
We can live in HOPE.

Jesus’s resurrection assures us of eternal life, but it also empowers us to live fully now. Today and tomorrow. And next week.

Jesus frees us to live, to love, to walk our path in peace. Does that mean we will not face hardships, challenges and sorrow? Of course not. But we face them with the strength that comes from knowing that Jesus is not only our friend, our companion, our advisor, our guide, our accountability partner, but also the Son of God –AND our Savior.

So, we recalibrate our lives to the new reality, the reality that turns our skepticism into joy. “What? He is risen?? Are you serious??? Gosh, he IS risen! Risen, indeed!! Alleluia!!!”
