Luke 15: 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

The Lost son chose to go out in the world and live “his way”. He dishonors his father by asking for his inheritance before his fathers’ death. Leaves the work behind for his father and brother and leaves the house.

He chooses to go out into the world and waste his inheritance living a sinful life. The bible stops with calling it riotous, but we call can imagine. I’m sure there was drink and overindulgence. Some of us can picture just how he lost all his welth as sin consumed his life draining all his substance and self-respect.

He ends up so poor and hungry that he is feeding pigs, the lowest form of work for a young Jewish man. Like the Lord, his father will always have open arms for us when we return.

The Lord doesn’t care what you have done if you have decided to put that life behind you and return to Him. He is all powerful and can forgive any sin. All you need to do is return to the Father and repent.

If you are looking for the Lord and His forgiveness you can find it though Jesus.

Romans 10: 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

15:9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

The Lord loves us regardless of what we do, although He does not love our sins. Once again just one person repenting and coming back to the Lord causes great joy in the Heavens.

15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

We have all strayed from a straight path, and more often than we know or admit. The Lord always has open arms when we confess and repent for our sins. Can you confess all your sins? I probably can’t remember a quarter of my infractions, but when I realize I have sinned against the Lord I try to clear my mind and ask the Lord for forgiveness.

Ask for guidance and forgiveness as often as possible, like a loving father the Lord is always ready with open arms when we need Him.

Luke 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Yesterday we talked about the shepherd that left the ninety-nine to search for the one that was lost. When he finds the sheep there is great joy. Not only did you find the lost sheep, but you know it is safe now with the saved.

Saved, and safe is where the Lord wants us. How often does he go searching for the lost. I bet a lot of them can hear his voice in the distance but think they are having too much fun in the world. Living for the little pleasures that the world can give while getting closer and closer to doom every day. Eventually the lost will either fall in a hole and be lost forever, or follow the shepherd’s voice back to safety.

Can you imagine the joy in heaven when one of the sheep is returned to safety? Here we see the shepherd calls his neighbors and friends to rejoice. I wonder if all heaven can hear when a new soul is saved from the shouts of joy of the great Shepherd.
