Stop Overthinking Nutrition 🧡
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on this journey is that nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated.
If you keep whole, simple ingredients around, you can create almost any type of meal or snack without needing a special recipe, expensive products, or hours in the kitchen.
This was my between-meal snack before heading out to grab the tractor for some evening chores:
• 1/4 roasted butternut squash
• Nonfat Greek yogurt
• Dried cranberries (Craisins)
That’s it.
The best part? This wasn’t preplanned.
I wasn’t following a recipe. I wasn’t meal prepping for this specific moment. I simply knew how I felt, knew what my evening meal was going to be, knew what my goals were, and after years of practice, I’ve learned how to listen to my body and give it what it needs for the next task.
That’s a skill worth developing.
Instead of asking, “What’s the perfect meal?” I asked:
“What do I need right now?”
The answer was simple:
✔️ Quality carbohydrates from the squash
✔️ Protein from the Greek yogurt
✔️ A little sweetness from the cranberries
✔️ Something satisfying that would fuel me without weighing me down
The roasted squash even created its own little bowl, so no silverware was needed. I just picked it up and ate it like an apple on my way out the door.
And honestly? It was hearty, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.
Nutrition doesn’t need to be perfect.
It doesn’t need to be complicated.
And it doesn’t need to be planned down to the minute.
When you consistently practice stewardship, you begin to understand your body’s signals, recognize your needs, and make confident decisions with the foods you already have available.
Simple.
Clean.
Satisfying.
Stewarding the body. Anchored in faith. Reflecting His glory. 🤍
