Mountain Chapel Presbyterian Church

Mountain Chapel Presbyterian Church Mountain Chapel Presbyterian Church is located at 7188 Apple Harvest Drive in Gerrardstown, WV. We are yoked in with Falling Waters Presbyterian Church.

Sometime after the turn of the twentieth century, local inhabitants of the Gerrardstown, Arden and Mills Gap areas recognized a need for a christian presence on the mountain along what is now called Apple Harvest Drive(Route 45),south west of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Local orchardists and farmers erected a small one roombuilding on land owned by George L.Miller and a Sunday School was establish

ed frommoney donated by John M. Miller, Sr. and his sisters Nannie and Bessie. After George Miller's death, his wife Clara donated the land on which the building was standing.

Bittersweet day. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our very large Oak tree removed. After many Fallen limbs, leaves turning brown and the reality that one whole side of our monumental Oak tree was dead, we had to make this decision. It took us two months of meeting tree experts, and getting estimates to allow Twisted Trunk to take it down. We wanted to just have it trimmed, but reality was that it was dying rapidly. We took into consideration of the limbs falling onto someone or even someone just driving by getting hurt or even falling on the Chapel itself. Our decision was based on the safety of everyone in general. We will miss that Ole tree. By the way, they counted 113 rings. Many THANKS to Twisted Tree Service!
