A Note from Rich About This Coming Sunday’s Organ Prelude: Over the past 175 years Silver Creek has had several fine organists, but there are two names that stand out for many of us today: Kathryn Fosha and Bea Po**en. When you consider that Kathryn first played the organ in 1920 and Bea played her last service in 2025, the two of them combined served for over a century. The prelude this Sunday remembers and honors Kathryn and Bea. The prelude begins with "Andante Cantabile" by Tchaikovsky and leads into the hymn "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name." Kathryn played these two songs at a service honoring the 50th Anniversary of Pleasant Prairie Academy on May 30, 1943. The prelude continues with "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy, a favorite of Bea, which then moves into the hymn "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." Bea and I played an organ/piano duet which combined these two songs in the summer of 2023. The 175th Anniversary of Silver Creek gives us the opportunity to remember not just Kathryn and Bea but also so many others who have faithfully served and many who continue to serve the church in so many ways. Praise God for faithful servants!
