We’re excited to welcome Grace Ashley as our Director of Music Ministry! She began serving with us on September 1. Grace is a soprano, director, and music educator. She is currently completing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Kentucky, where she serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and studies with Dr. Everett McCorvey. In addition to her work at UK, Grace is the Director of the Youth Opera Project at Kentucky Opera and performs nationally as a member of The American Spiritual Ensemble and teaches private voice and piano in her own studio. She has also being a Choral Scholar and choir section leader at Crestwood Christian Church for the past 3 ½ years.
Originally from Alabama, Grace has made Kentucky home while pursuing her doctoral studies and has loved becoming part of the arts community here. When she isn’t singing, teaching, or directing, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, exploring new places especially coffee shops, visiting farmers markets and thrift stores, trying new restaurants and recipes, and enjoying live music.
A message from Grace: “I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the First Christian Church community! From my first conversations with the search committee, I was struck by the warmth and kindness I experienced, and I am truly looking forward to getting to know each of you. I believe some of the most meaningful music happens when people feel welcomed, connected, and encouraged to share their gifts. I’m excited to sing together, grow together, and see what we can create as a church community. I can’t wait to get started!”
