TODAY’S PONDERING:

Jesus and John the Baptist both warned that the end was drawing nearer and that it is essential to repent.

“In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’ For this the one who was spoken about by the prophet Isaiah, saying, “The voice if the crying out in the wilderness, “‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight’” - Matthew 3:1-3.

The evidence of repentance is not words of resolve, but a changed life.

Be ready! He will return. And we do not know when!

Huge shout out for one of our church members!

105 Year Old Former PE Teacher: Geraldine “Jerry” Duncan

Mrs. Duncan may very well be the longest living former GISD staffer. Jerry graduated from Pearl High School before earning her college degree from Southwest (Texas State University).

Mrs. Duncan’s first year of teaching was in 1942 at Robert Lee school district followed by a year in Lampasas. Jerry would teach middle school PE at GISD from 1944 to 1977. This included time at the old schools formerly located near Raby Park plus the “new” junior high.

Jerry attributes her long life to all the exercise she did with her teaching career. Please help us thank Jerry for all those years of service to the children of GISD.
