Alley's Chapel United Methodist Church

Alley's Chapel United Methodist Church We are pleased to have you visit our FaceBook Page. These three mandates cover all the activities in which our church engages.

Alley's Chapel UMC is a delightful historic church founded in 1884 in the beautiful Templeton Valley section of Scott County, Virginia.better known as Manville, Virginia. Our basic philosophy of ministry is that our church has a three-fold ministry responsibility; Prayer, the study of Scripture and giving spiritual direction to the church and the Manville community. Whether it is fellowship, Bible

studies or evangelism, we hope to stay faithful to committed prayer, Bible study and giving spiritual direction to those whom God has given us at Alley's UMC.

Back a few years ago I decided to create a new page on our Alley's UMC Website. I wanted to make it both readable or Audio. Therefore I used my GoPro Camera to Voice Record all if not most of Jesus' parables from the New Testament in our Bibles. I have always been a big fan of Matthew Henry Bible Commentator and I printed off all of his Parables Comments. It was along about now when the trees were showing their beautiful foliage up until the first snowfall. It was also back when I could multitask, hold my printed commentary in right hand to read from, pan with my left wrist where my GoPro camera was plus read out loud to record Jesus' parables. This link should take you to our parables page where all of Jesus' parables are listed. All that you are required to do is to pick one parable at a time by mouse clicking on it. You can always bookmark this page if you want to return to this page latter.

Jesus was a great healer by performing a great number of miracles. He performed the leopracy, blindness and a great number of other miracles. He was best known as a great Rabbi, which is defined as a great teacher. He used his teacking skills many times in our Bibles. His teaching skills were cal...

With all of this COVID-19 going around and our Houses of Worship having to close and lock their doors we have to find a way to worship! In the boxing terminology ole Satan may have thrown a left jab at us but we had counter him with our upper hook jab. One of our two lay speakers in Alleys' had prepared his Sermon into text and he emailed me ask me if cared to incorporate it into our church website and I replied not at all and that I would love to. Both Bob McConnell and Charlene Brickey have been instrumental in keeping our worshiping spirits on the upbeat. Therefore I have completed a new page into our site with the name of Lay Sermon Page. I'm providing for everyone a link to our new website page for our viewers to view our two links, one Bobs prepared text sermon and Charlene's song and Piano playing song. We hope you will enjoy both reading and listening:

Satan may have his upper hand over all  of us Jesus believers but we still remain true to our faith, even though we had to shut and lock our doors in our houses of worship.  Even though Satan in powerful in his Satanic ways over us, we still have our rights against Satan either to […]

Our Sunday lesson for tomorrow is on "God Honoring Piety" our discussion will be centered on "Giving To The Needy" and "Prayer"!

Matthew 6:1-8 New International Version (NIV)
Giving to the Needy
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
