Hey Friends!
Our new Sunday School series starts tomorrow at 9:30am.

This is what it's all about:
You learned the story, now let’s read the Bible.
We learned these stories when we were little.
We were taught the lessons.
Now we are older, our brains are different.
Our questions are different.
So what happens when we go back and actually
read the story?

The first Bible story we are going to look at is the story of Noah!

I have been leading youth trips for 9 years, and have never had a day like today. A wise friend told me that sometimes God is closer to the hot mess than the meticulously planned, and that could not be more true for today.

Between being completely stopped on I 26 due to an overturned tanker truck and the fuel pump going out in one of the vans, we are 7 hours behind on my meticulously planned schedule for our Mid- Hi Service Learning Trip to Epworth by the Sea.

But God.
God put some amazing people in our path today. People who kept us safe and cared for us in the chaos. People who went way above and beyond to show us grace and radical hospitality.

These Mid-Hi Youth- they have kept me laughing through it all. They have been flexible, reliable and wonderful all day long. They have found joy in the small things, grace in the hard things and have fiercely loved on and protected each other.

These Amazing Youth Counselors- have worked together to problem solve all day long. They have focused on keeping our youth safe and cared for, while prioritizing relationship building. They have shown true Jesus like character through all of the bumps in the road today.

What a blessing it is to serve in this capacity. Pray for us as we continue our journey to Epworth and as we serve and learn this weekend.

As you step into this next season, remember this truth: you never walk alone. The same God that has guided you through every challenge, friendship, lesson and milestone goes before you still.

Wherever life takes you, stay rooted in Christ. Trust God's plans, and know that your church family is cheering you on every step of the way.

Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart..."

A Prayer Vigil will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026 in the Chapel at First UMC Gastonia.

Together, we will pause in prayer, reflection, and hope for all who lead, learn and advocate within our schools and community.
