Some days feel full from the moment they begin.

There is so much to do.
So much to think about.
So many messages to answer.
So many responsibilities to carry.

And even when we are trying to do good things,
our hearts can still become restless,
scattered, and spiritually distant.

This is what happened in the story of Mary and Martha.

Martha was busy serving,
but Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen.

Jesus said,
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled
about many things, but one thing is necessary.
Mary has chosen the good part,
which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41–42

Service matters.
Responsibility matters.
Faithfulness in daily life matters.

But even good things can become distractions
when they keep us from being present with God.

A distracted heart is not always doing bad things.
Sometimes it is simply carrying too many things
without returning to the presence of Christ.

Jesus gently reminds us
that being with Him is not wasted time.

Before doing more,
the heart needs to be with Him.

Before pouring out,
the soul needs to be filled.

Before carrying everything else,
we must learn to sit at His feet again.

So if your heart has been stretched thin,
come back.

Come back to His presence.
Come back to His Word.
Come back to stillness.
Come back to the better portion.

Today's prayer,
Lord, bring my heart back from distraction
and teach me to sit with You again.
Help me not to be so busy that
I forget to be with You.
Amen.
