Think On These Things:

“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (Luke 12:27-28)

Overheard In An Orchard

Said the Robin to the Sparrow,
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush and worry so!”

Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
“Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no heavenly father
Such as careers for you and me!”
(Elizabeth Cheney, 1859)

Sometimes we just need to stop, take a breath and let God remind us that we don’t have to carry everything alone.

Join Sherman tonight at 6 PM for this week’s Tuesday Timeout—a few quiet moments of encouragement, truth and hope for whatever kind of day you’ve had.

Pause with us. You may hear exactly what your heart needs tonight. 💙

Think On These Things:

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:14-18)

“The Resurrection is the Keystone of the arch on which our faith is supported. If Christ has not risen, we have no proof that the crucifixion of Jesus differed from that of the two thieves who suffered with him. If Christ has not risen, it is impossible to believe his atoning death was accepted.” (Dwight L. Moody)

What an honor to be with Mike & Kim Carper and to share Songs In The Night Ministry at Shelby FWB Church. The Lord moved in the service, and many came forward at the invitation to pray. Several stopped by the display to drop a prayer request in the Prayer Box, or to share how the message of HOPE resonated in their heart. Thank you Pastor Mike & Kim for your desire to help those who are hurting. To God be all the glory and praise!

Think On These Things:

The Bend in the Road

Sometimes we come to life’s crossroads
We view what we think is the end;
But God has a much wider vision
And He knows that it’s only a bend.

The road will go on and get smoother
And after we’ve stopped for a rest,
The path that lies hidden beyond us
Is often the path that is best.

So rest and relax and grow stronger
Let go, and let God share your load,
And have faith in a brighter tomorrow
You’ve just come to a bend in the road.
(Helen Steiner Rice)

The Anvil

Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith’s door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then, looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“To wear and batter all these hammers so?”
“Just one” said he, and then, with twinkling eye,
“The anvil wears the hammers out you know.”

And so, thought I the anvil of God’s Word,
For ages sceptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed – the hammers gone!
(John Clifford)
