In these Scriptures, we read about good people or godly people who pass away, what we think is, too soon. I’ve heard it before and this reiterates my point, that it can be a source of protection from God from something much worse.

It’s hard to think of anything relating to death right now without thinking about Charlie Kirk and his heinous assassination and untimely death. But also in all the deaths of our children in the school shootings and the flood victims in Texas…losing someone is always heartbreaking but when we know that they are in the arms of God, especially our children that are lost, it somehow offers a little comfort.

We will not always understand here on earth why things happen as they do, but one day when we see our Savior face to face, if we continue to be faithful in our walk, it will all be worth it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isaiah 57:1-2 NLT
[1] Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. [2] For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.
Isaiah 57 LASB - 57:1-2
When good people die before they have lived full lives, we may wonder, Why? Does God even care? Those who trust in God through faith in Jesus the Messiah have assurance of eternal life with him. They are the ones who can rest in peace. God knows every person by name and every life situation. Sometimes he allows death to come as a protection from something worse; sometimes he asks the faithful to walk through great adversity before they die. But no death is meaningless in his eyes.
Isaiah 57 CSBSB - 57:1-2
Retribution does not always happen in this life. Good things happen to bad people and, as these verses point out, bad things happen to good people. Even so, v. 2 hints at future resolution of this problem when it talks about death for the righteous as an entering into peace.
For those who are not sure, a breakdown of The Armor of God and what each one is and the meaning…it is what every believer needs on a daily basis to be able to fight off the enemy effectively. As a Christian, we know that our battles are in the spiritual realm the majority of the time and we MUST BE prepared! So knowing what The (full) Armor of God is and how to use it against Satan’s attacks not only makes you stronger but can also help you encourage your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ephesians 6:10-17 NLT
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. [11] Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. [12] For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. [14] Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. [15] For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. [16] In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. [17] Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6 AMPSB - 6:11 the full armor of God. This equipment is the believer’s protection against evil and the devil. Paul presented the extended metaphor of the battle dress roughly according to the order in which the various pieces were put on.

6:12 For our struggle is not. The real battle is not with human cultists, false religionists, atheists, agnostics, and pseudo-Christians, but with the demonic beings working through them.

6:14 TRUTH. This is a reference to integrity, a life of practical truthfulness and honesty. BREASTPLATE. In Roman times this went completely around the body and was made of hard leather or metal. RIGHTEOUSNESS. This is not the righteousness of Christ, which all believers possess, but the practical, righteous character and deeds of the believer.

6:15 THE GOSPEL OF PEACE IN PREPARATION. This may mean either that the gospel is the firm foundation on which Christians are to stand or that the Christian soldier should be ready to go out to defend and spread the gospel.

6:16 shield of faith. The Christian’s shield offers protection against all forms of evil. Flaming arrows could not pe*****te the fireproof shield of the ancient Roman soldier, nor can the assaults of Satan pe*****te to the believer who places his or her faith in God.

6:17 the sword of the Spirit. This is the only offensive weapon in the believer’s armor. This weapon is not necessarily the Bible as a whole, but the specific word that needs to be spoken in a specific situation.

Some may wonder, why does she share so much Scripture? That’s easy…it’s God’s Word…and I let the Holy Spirit lead me when I feel like there’s something God wants me to share and it may only be for ONE person that needs to see it or to read about God’s love for them or how to accept Jesus Christ because you see, I don’t just share it here, it’s also on our Followers of Christ page and Daddy’s Cowboys for Christ page…so if just one person sees it and reads it and it helps them in a difficult situation today, then that’s what was meant for me to share it for…and God desires obedience more than sacrifice! Have a totally blessed day!!

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NLT
[21] It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, [22] and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

1:21-22 Paul’s ministry was enabled, commissioned (literally anointed), and endorsed by God, who equipped him for his work. • along with you: All believers are identified . . . as his own (literally sealed) by the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to his people

2 Corinthians 1 AMPSB - 1:21 anointed us. God confirmed Paul and his fellow workers by anointing them, the special mark of service to God which was given to kings and priests in the Old Testament. This anointing probably refers to special empowerment by the Holy Spirit, similar to the anointing that John described in 1 John 2:20,27.

2 Corinthians 1 AMPSB - 1:22 put His seal on us. Sealing indicates ownership and security. The sealing and the giving of the Holy Spirit are also linked. The Holy Spirit is a guarantee, the down payment that there is more spiritual blessing to come and that the believer will receive eternal life.

2 Corinthians 1 LASB - 1:21-22 Paul mentions the gift God gives when we become believers: the Holy Spirit, who guarantees that we belong to God and will receive all the benefits of his promises (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit guarantees that we have salvation now and that we will receive much more when Christ returns. The great comfort and power the Holy Spirit gives in this life is a foretaste or down payment (“first installment”) of the benefits of our eternal life in God’s presence. With the privilege of belonging to God comes the responsibility of identifying ourselves as his faithful servants. Don’t be ashamed to let others know that you are his.

2 Corinthians 1 CSBSB - 1:21-22 This is a Trinitarian text. God the Father confirms believers as his own. He initiates the anointing of believers in his Son, Christ. He also put his seal on us with the Spirit, guaranteeing our heavenly inheritance (Eph 1:13-14; 4:30).

2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT
[20] For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory.

1:20 God has put a seal of approval, with a resounding “Yes!” on the OT prophecies as they are fulfilled in Christ. Believers respond with “Amen,” meaning “confirmed and agreed.”

2 Corinthians 1 CSBSB - 1:20 Every one of God’s promises in Scripture is fulfilled directly or indirectly in him (Rm 1:2; Eph 2:12). Amen means “so be it” or “this is true.” The glory of God is displayed in Christ as well as in believers’ confession of him.

2 Corinthians 1 LASB - Jesus Christ is the premier example of this. “All of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’” Jesus perfectly embodies God’s faithfulness. Because Jesus Christ is faithful, Paul (a messenger appointed by Jesus) would also be faithful in his ministry.

2 Corinthians 1:8-10 NLT
[8] We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. [9] In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. [10] And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.

2 Corinthians 1 LASB - 1:8-10 We often rely on our own skills and abilities when life seems easy and only turn to God when we feel unable to help ourselves. As we realize our own powerlessness without Him, we will seek His constant help in our lives through prayer and come to depend on Him more and more. We can be confident of His power to rescue us, and we will receive His help by keeping in touch with Him. With this attitude of dependence, our problems will drive us to God rather than away from Him. If you have this attitude, it will also energize your prayer life and the lives of those who are earnestly praying for you.

2 Corinthians 1 LASB - 1:8 Being a follower of Christ doesn’t exempt a person from crushing pressure, stress, or depression. Many Christians believe that followers of Christ should never be depressed. But here Paul, a champion of the early church, was dealing with that very problem. For him, pressure was part of his sanctification, helping him to become more and more like Christ. Evidently, he wondered if he would ever escape his tough circumstances. No doubt you have felt this way about your situation too. When you pray, honestly tell the Lord about the pressure and anxiety currently consuming you. Ask Him to undergird you as you chip away at situations you feel are beyond what you can handle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are a lot of misconceptions about what it means to be a “Christian”…some think that we are passive and never stand up for ourselves, some believe that we are never afflicted with depression or anxiety, some believe that everything comes up smelling like roses…these are all wrong. First of all, NO two Christian walks are the same, just like God did not make any two people the same, we are all individuals and have our own personal walk with the Lord when we accept Jesus Christ because we all have our own issues when we came to Christ.
The thing we need to realize is that we can come to Him for anything and I mean ANYTHING, big or small, because He hears it all and wants to answer His children’s prayers no matter how small it may be. He’s just waiting for you to bring it to Him. I went to God this morning in prayer, never knowing how it’s going to go, whether the Holy Spirit is going to start praying or I’m going to end up in tears while I’m praying but you have to make the first move and go to Him in prayer. I ask for something that was very important to me and yes, I was crying while I was praying, and not long after I got up off of my knees and dried my tears, My God was faithful and He opened that door!!! Praise God!!
He’s just waiting for YOU to come to Him in prayer and talk to Him…when we realize we NEED Him in ALL things, THAT is when we become the strongest because we realize we no longer have to depend on our own strength but the strength of God and, oh, what a feeling!!!
Good morning…this reading is a little longer than my previous posts because this is where God’s speaking to Job from the whirlwind. It was a theophany, a manifestation of God himself. Although Job may have been upright and he was not suffering because of wrongdoing, his frequent complaints against God were tantamount to assuming the Lord’s prerogatives—playing God in his life. Job needed to be reminded of who the LORD is in order to find him sufficient for his situation. God did not impugn Job’s integrity, but He did question his knowledge. Job had questioned God’s just governance of the world and proposed that he could talk with God as an EQUAL. He was misguided on both counts. The Lord addressed Job by challenging him to enter into a dialogue in full possession of his human strength and faculties. Job’s difficult task consisted of fully understanding and answering God’s questions. (read to the end)
Job 38:1-3 NLT
[1] Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind: [2] "Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? [3] Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:19-21 NLT
[19] "Where does light come from, and where does darkness go? [20] Can you take each to its home? Do you know how to get there? [21] But of course you know all this! For you were born before it was all created, and you are so very experienced!

Job 38 CSBSB - 38:19-21 Light and darkness are personified, each having a home from which they daily emerged and returned. The Lord satirically reminded Job that he had not even been born when God commanded the first light to pe*****te the primeval darkness (15:7; Gn 1:2-5).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:22-23 NLT
"Have you visited the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of hail? [23] (I have reserved them as weapons for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war.)
Job 38 CSBSB - 38:22-23 The imagery of these verses views God as keeping snow and hail in heavenly storehouses for his use at appropriate times. God could use them as weapons (Ex 9:18-26; Ps 68:14; 78:47-48; Is 28:2,19).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:24 NLT
Where is the path to the source of light? Where is the home of the east wind?

Job 38 CSBSB - 38:24 God reminded Job that his knowledge did not include the distribution of the lightning (see textual footnote; also 36:30,32; 37:3,11,15) or the place where the east wind originated. Such a mighty desert wind had swept away Job’s family (1:19).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:25-27 NLT
[25] "Who created a channel for the torrents of rain? Who laid out the path for the lightning? [26] Who makes the rain fall on barren land, in a desert where no one lives? [27] Who sends rain to satisfy the parched ground and make the tender grass spring up?🙏🏼
Job 38 CSBSB - 38:25-27 Humans would never bring rain on uninhabited land. “Only God has the wisdom to make it rain in the desert, giving evidence of his wise care for the entire world” (John Hartley, The Book of Job, NICOT).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:28-30 NLT
[28] "Does the rain have a father? Who gives birth to the dew? [29] Who is the mother of the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens? [30] For the water turns to ice as hard as rock, and the surface of the water freezes.

Job 38 CSBSB - 38:28-30 God reminded Job that only a master craftsman could account for the manifold forms that water can assume and the places where these may be found. The elemental forces of nature are under God’s control (5:10; 28:25-26; 36:37; Ps 147:16-18).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:31-33 NLT
[31] "Can you direct the movement of the stars- binding the cluster of the Pleiades or loosening the cords of Orion? [32] Can you direct the constellations through the seasons or guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens? [33] Do you know the laws of the universe? Can you use them to regulate the earth?
Job 38 CSBSB - 38:31-33 God turned Job’s attention to the constellations: the Pleiades . . . Orion, and the Bear. Job had mentioned them earlier in connection with God’s creative activity (9:9). Although Job knew of their existence, he did not understand the laws of physics and astronomy and their effect on the earth. God alone exercises dominion over all of this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:34-35 NLT
[34] "Can you shout to the clouds and make it rain? [35] Can you make lightning appear and cause it to strike as you direct?

Job 38 CSBSB - 38:34-35 After centuries of trying, humans still have no control over rain and lightning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:36-38 NLT
[36] Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind? [37] Who is wise enough to count all the clouds? Who can tilt the water jars of heaven [38] when the parched ground is dry and the soil has hardened into clods?
Job 38 CSBSB - 38:36-38 God’s questions implied that neither Job nor any human had the wisdom to control the weather. In a metaphor the clouds are likened to giant water jars (or skins), which are tipped to spill their water on hard, dry soil (see Dt 28:23).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Job 38:39-41 NLT
"Can you stalk prey for a lioness and satisfy the young lions' appetites [40] as they lie in their dens or crouch in the thicket? [41] Who provides food for the ravens when their young cry out to God and wander about in hunger?

Job 38 CSBSB - 38:39-41 Lions are capable of securing their own prey, but it is God who established the complex relationship of predator and prey. God also cares for the needs of the ravens, scavengers that often feed on the remains of prey. His control of ravens included using them to care for one of his prophets (1Kg 17:4-6). The stately lion and lowly raven serve as a merism, the two extremes (stately and lowly) representing the whole animal world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have read this far…the point of all this is that God is in control of everything, the weather, the stars, the ocean, every single thing no matter what people say or think…when you submit to Him and accept Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior, you have just made the simplest and greatest decision of your life!! You will never be the same again…all your sins are forgiven, thrown into the Sea of Forgetfulness…you are washed cleaned by the blood of Christ!! It’s a brand new day and every morning his grace and mercy are new so that no matter if we made a mistake yesterday, we can take it to God and confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, repent and start our day out brand new!!
Nobody is promised tomorrow but if we accept Jesus, we KNOW where our eternity will be and we can live free of any chains or bo***ge because he set us free when we accepted him. The peace and joy that he gives us, NOBODY can take away from us because what he gives us is unlike anything you have ever felt…joy unspeakable and full of glory!!
We will be starting our Cowboy Church soon on Saturday nights @ 6pm with dinner following at our new church building as well for Followers of Christ on Sunday mornings @10:30am. We also hope to start Wednesday night Bible Study @ 6 pm and possibly Monday night Prayer Meetings once we get into the new church building!!
Job 37:21-24 NLT
We cannot look at the sun, for it shines brightly in the sky when the wind clears away the clouds. [22] So also, golden splendor comes from the mountain of God. He is clothed in dazzling splendor. [23] We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us. [24] No wonder people everywhere fear him. All who are wise show him reverence. "
Job 37 NLTSB - 37:22 (New Living Translation Study Bible)
…the mountain of God ({tn}or from the north; or from the abode;{/tn} Hebrew from Zaphon): In the literature of the ancient city of Ugarit, Zaphon was the northern mountainous abode of Baal; here it figuratively refers to God’s lofty home in the heavens.
Job 37 CSBSB - 37:21-22 (Christian Standard Bible Study)
If the sun is too dazzling to behold, the splendor of the Lord is even more so (Ac 22:6-11; 26:13). Therefore, God softens his appearance (Ezk 1:4-28; Mt 17:2). The imagery may suggest the approach of a storm from the north (see Pr 25:23) as the sun’s rays streamed through the gathering clouds with a golden glow. This would herald the Lord’s presence (Ps 18:2). The north (Hb tsaphon) was linked with God’s residence in some cultures of the ancient Near East (Jb 23:9; 26:7; cp. Ps 48:2; Is 14:13-14).
Job 37 LASB - 37:21-24 (Life Application Study Bible)
Elihu concluded his speech with the tremendous truth that faith in God was far more important than Job’s desire for an explanation for his suffering. He came so close to helping Job but then went down the wrong path. Significantly, it is here that God himself breaks into the discussion to draw the right conclusions from this important truth (38:1-41).
Job 37 LASB - 37:23
Elihu stressed God’s sovereignty over all of nature as a reminder of his sovereignty over our lives. God is in control—he directs, preserves, and maintains his created order. Although we can’t see it, God is divinely governing the moral and political affairs of people as well. By spending time observing the majestic and intricate parts of God’s creation, we can be reminded of his power in every aspect of our lives.
Job 37 CSBSB - 37:23
Elihu implied that Job’s quest for a personal hearing before God (13:14-16; 31:35-37) was ill-founded. Elihu maintained that God was not singling out Job for persecution as he had complained (10:20; 16:12; 30:19,21). Such was impossible because God’s basic moral character functioned in accordance with his justice and righteousness (Dt 32:4; Jnh 4:2).
Job 37 AMPSB - 37:24 (Amplified Study Bible)
…nor respect . . . wise in heart. Even though Elihu had claimed earlier to be one who “is perfect in knowledge” (36:4), he knew that God does not give preferential treatment, even to the wise.
Job 37 CSBSB - 37:24
Elihu’s final advice was to fear God (Ec 12:13). This is wise, as Job himself had admitted (Jb 28:28). But God does not favorably regard the person who is wise in heart (one who prides himself as having superior wisdom). True wisdom begins with reverential fear of God (Pr 1:7). Elihu was from the beginning angry with Job because he believed that Job was self-righteous (Jb 32:2). Although Job feared God, he was playing God in his own life despite his constant acts of piety (1:5; cp. chap. 31). Job had been certain of his righteousness (27:6), but he had failed to recognize God’s essential justice and righteousness (32:2; 37:23). Elihu’s advice to Job was that he should truly fear (revere) God and turn from his self-centeredness. Then he would understand both God’s power and his moral integrity (42:2-6). Thus Job would find God sufficient for his every trial.
