God's Preachers!
"... it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." -- ! Corinthians 1:21b.

What is preaching? Logic on fire! Preaching is theology coming through a man who is on fire. A true understanding and experience of the Truth must lead to this. I say again that a man who can speak about these things dispassionately has no right whatsoever to be in a pulpit; and should never be allowed to enter one.

So, when you attend your church this Sunday, come with passion to hear the Word of God. And pray that the preacher comes to God's Word with passion and fire!

“ As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’” -- Mark 5:18–19

Question: What does it mean to be a “gospel church”? What does Christ call churches to be? And how do we ensure that our churches live out that calling and refuse to be diverted from it?

When a church is drifting, it’s usually only when it looks over its shoulder that it realizes that, often unwittingly, it has lost its gospel focus. Over time, perhaps quickly, perhaps slowly and imperceptibly, that church has become turned in on itself. The congregation has grown comfortable and content with empty seats in their services, or with seats that are full for the wrong reasons. It is very possible for a church to slowly drift, become self-satisfied, and eventually lose its way.

An individual church will only remain devoted to its mission when its members constantly maintain an outward gaze. Jesus encouraged this very mindset after He healed the man who was possessed by demons in Mark 5. When this man asked Jesus if he could stay with Him, Jesus told him no—which may come as a surprise, given that some of Jesus’ first words in Mark’s Gospel were “Follow me” (Mark 1:17). But Jesus was telling this man that following involved going—going home to his friends and family and telling them -- “how much the Lord has done for you.” Jesus did not want him to rest content with the knowledge of Christ that he had received. He wanted him to make the good news about Christ known to those around him.

As with this man, God calls us to His Son, He calls us to be the followers of His Son—and that involves us going out and spreading the news about His Son. For Jesus never calls anyone to follow Him without also making them “fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). If we have truly come to Him, then we will go and share Him.

On the cross, Jesus declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The work of redemption is indeed a finished work that was and remains accomplished by Christ alone. Yet Christ includes His followers in His unfinished work of bringing the news of this amazing and wonderful story to the world. There are plenty of important elements of church life that should never be ignored, but when we neglect evangelism, pursuing these other things becomes like rearranging furniture in a house that’s on fire.

Have you received the mercy that is found in Christ alone? Do you know others who have yet to believe the gospel? Then Christ calls you, too, to “go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.” He calls your church to be a place that welcomes anyone and everyone who wants to meet the man who has made such a difference in your life and the life of others in your church. Will you accept His calling? This week, with whom are you going to share the one who has done so much for you?

Questions for Thought:

• How is God calling me to think differently?
• How is God reordering my heart’s affections — what I love?
• What is God calling me to do as I go about my day today?

“We would see Jesus!” – John 12:21

Throughout the world it’s cry is, “Who will show us any good?” Mankind seeks its satisfaction in earthly comforts, enjoyments, pleasures, and wealth. But the redeemed sinner knows of only one good, “O that I knew where I might find HIM!”

When a man and woman is truly awakened to feel his/her guilt, if you might pour the gold of Ft. Knox at his/her feet, they would say, “Take it all way, I want to find HIM!” It is indeed a blessed thing when a person has brought his/her desires into focus, so that they all center in one object. When they have their fifty different desires, their heart resembles a mere of stagnant water, spread out into a marsh, breeding a mess of pestilence. But when all our desires are brought into one channel, our heart becomes like a river of pure water, running swiftly to the fertilized fields.

And happy is that man/woman who has but one desire, if that one desire is set on Christ Jesus. If Jesus be that soul’s desire, it is a blessed sign of the Spirit’s divine work within. That person will never be satisfied with the things of this world. He or she will say, “I want Christ; I must have HIM – no desires of this world is any use to me; I want HIMSELF; do not offer me these things; you are offering me an empty pitcher , while I’m dying of thirst; give me water or I die. Jesus is my soul’s desire. I would see Jesus!”

Is that your condition right now? Do you have but one desire, and is that after Christ Jesus? Then you are not far from the kingdom of heaven. Do you have but one wish in your heart, and that is to be washed from all your sins in Jesus’ blood? Can you really say, “I would give all I have to be a real Christian; I would give up everything I have and hope for, if I might but feel that I have a real interest in Christ? Then my friend, be of good cheer, the LORD loves you, and you shall come out into daylight soon asnd rejoice in the freedom that only Christ can make people free!

Hearing Is A Necessary Thing!

Jesus said, "He that has ears, let him hear what the Spirit is saying" Luke 8:8.

How's your hearing, when it comes to the Word of God preached?

The English Puritan preacher-Thomas Watson once said, "When we come to the Word preached, we come to a matter of the highest importance; therefore, we should stir-up ourselves and hear with the greatest devotion."

English minister-David Clarkson (1622-1686) said, "Hearing is the provision made for the soul's eternal being, it's everlasting welfare depends on it. If it fails here, your souls perish without remedy. For salvation comes by faith and faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). It's an act of eternal consequence. According to our hearing, so shall the state of the soul be to eternity!"

A Radiant Hope!
“I am the light of the world. Whosoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” – John 8:12.

Dear ones, the message of Christmas is one of radiant hope. When we consider the darkness of this world, and the darkness within our own hearts, we are all the more eager to celebrate the central message of the Christmas season: that true light has come into the world and that light is the life and the light of men—the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is an immense privilege to proclaim to you this good news of great joy for all people (Luke 2:10) to men and women of all ages and backgrounds around the world by way of New Life Fellowship Church.

And as we look forward to the coming year-2026, we take to heart the words in Luke 12:48: “Everyone to whom much was given, of him/her much will be required.” Therefore, we enter 2026 with thankfulness for God’s goodness to us, and with a great measure of both prayerful gratitude and profound responsibility.

Thank you for your much love, support and faithfulness to New Life Fellowship.

May your Christmas be filled with-Joy, Peace, and the Light of Christ!

With my love in the Lord Jesus,
Pastor Paul McPhearson

Almighty God!
“The Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will” – Daniel 4:17.

Dear reader, the Lord governs this world and everything in it. He is the Creator-God, all-powerful, holy, and righteous. He is perfect in his patience and infinite in his knowledge. He alone has the power to bend and direct the human heart. A mere word from His lips can bring creation to its knees before him. And nothing takes place without his knowledge, and nothing takes place outside his will.

He has ordered all creation, yet this all-powerful God desires a real relationship with each of us and seeks to give us every good thing. His providence extends to every human life and heart.

This doctrine (teaching) is preached by God himself with great compelling elegance in Job 38-40 and by the Psalmist in Psalms 147 and 148. Amen!

Glory To God!
"Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever and ever. Amen" -- Galatians 1:3-5.

Dear ones, God's plan and purpose is not to answer all our questions or make our lives tranquil but in order that we might live to "the praise of His glory."

God Is Holy!
“The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the Truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has showed it to them.” – Romans 1:18-19.

Well, as a church, we have been following the teaching of the apostle Paul in his letter of Romans. And I’ll be honest; it has been a difficult message to preach as it probably has been hard to hear. Why? Because every person you will ever meet shares the same fundamental problem: SIN!

God is holy – We are not! And there is nothing we can do by our own efforts to bridge that infinite chasm. For our hearts are corrupted, and we break the law of God daily in thought, word, and deed.

Yet today, sin seems like no great problem at all for many people—even in the church. From one perspective, it isn’t surprising that a low view of sin is entrenched in our society. By nature, unbelievers are alienated from their Creator and hostile toward Him (Col. 1:21). Yet, as believers “in Christ” we ought to be scandalized by how often sin is overlooked within the church.

A survey from Ligonier Ministries (out of Atlanta, GA; 2025) reveal a troubling reality: “64% of American evangelicals believe all people are born innocent. And only 49% of believers are convinced that even the smallest sin deserves God’s eternal judgment.’

In the words of Dr. R.C. Sproul, “The gospel is only ‘good news’ when we understand the bad news.” – echoing the words of Martin Luther, whose insights shook the world.

God hates sin and He cannot ignore it. At the same time, He gave His Son-to die for sin so that its penalty would fall upon Jesus and not upon us.

Someone has asked, “How could a loving God judge?” I would reply, “How could a lovi ng God not judge?” For to be truly loving is to bring desire the best for others, and judgment is sometimes the only tool left for bringing sinners back from the sin of darkness.

Come to Jesus Christ and He will save you!

Compelled to give an Answer!
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope within you" -- 1 Peter 3:15.

A professor of apologetics told a story about a bank loan officer asked him 'what he did for a living.' He said, "I'm a professor of apologetics." She replied, "That's wonderful." then she added, "These days, we need to teach people how to say thay are sorry."

Well, the loan officer was both right and wrong. But apologetics isn't about saying we're sorry. Rather, it's about defending the faith.
Apologetics comes from 'apologia' meaning: to speak to.

In fact, defending the faith is so urgent today. And all Christians need to realize that they are apologists (R.C. Sproul).

Those who are in Christ and have been brought to see the truth and beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:2-6) have both the obligation and the privilege to 'defend its truth.'

We are compelled "to give an answer." We cannot simply rely on the philosophically gifted or the culturally elitists today to carry the weight. Christians are the apologists.

THE PROMISE OF PARADISE
“He said, ’Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom. And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.’” – Luke 23:42-43

Jesus, as you know, was crucified between two convicted criminals—and those criminals both heard the words of Christ, yet they responded very differently. The first dying man regarded the cross as a contradiction. He concluded that because Jesus was on the cross, he was no savior. So, he ridiculed the Man on the middle-cross: “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us! (Luke 23:39).” But the second man saw the cross as confirmation. He recognized that because Jesus was on the cross, He must be the Savior.

This once hard-bitten criminal had seen and heard enough of Jesus in His final hours to conclude that He was innocent of any crime. And the Holy Spirit had opened his eyes to realize that his predicament was far greater and different from what he had formerly thought. Not only was he being punished justly, receiving the condemnation his sins deserved, but his punishment would extend into eternity if he lacked the forgiveness of which Jesus spoke.

Thus, following this realization, the condemned man made a humble request to Jesus for what he knew he did not deserve: “Jesus, remember me when you come into Your kingdom.” Presumably, he had processed the evidence, concluding, ‘If this man is the Messiah, then He is the long-promised King. If He is that King, then He is going to have a kingdom—the eternal kingdom of God. And when he reaches His kingdom, then perhaps He will remember me when He arrives there.’

Think about it. This criminal offered nothing and asked the King for everything. And He said, “YES!” This ought to never fail to strike us and reassure us today, because you and I are in the same exact position as this criminal. We have nothing to bring to Jesus, as though our deeds might be the key that opens the way into His kingdom. Yet, all we bring is all that the criminal brought: OUR SIN!

But that is why Jesus hung on the cross: so that we might bring our sin to Him and that He might take it and bear it. That is why Jesus’ promise to the criminal is also His promise to every believer who dies: “Today you will be with Me in paradise.”

Let that knowledge be your joy and fuel for your Praise today. One day, you-even you-will be with your King in paradise (Revelation 21:1-7).
