We had a great first day of Illumination Station VBS! Today kids learned that Jesus is the promised Son of God. From music to skits to a giant volleyball in the gym, the day was packed full of fun. We particularly enjoyed a gospel-focused magic show by Bro. Russ. We're looking forward tomorrow to learning more about who Jesus really is and our yearly minute-to-win-it show down! Our annual VBS penny offering battle is off to a fantastic start! The boys came in strong today and won in a landslide, so Ms. Val had to wear the clown costume all day long while Bro. Jason reveled in his winner's crown. The losing team tomorrow has to wear the "Defender of Last Place" crown and sing karaoke. If your kids are coming to VBS, make sure to send along some change to help their team win. And, as always, the real winners are the kids of the Amazing Grace Children's Home as they will receive 100% of the money raised this week at VBS. If by Friday we raise a total of $2500, our Youth Minister Bro. Jason will be dunked in the dunk tank by the winning team. Want to help out? Thank you to all who joined us for our annual Memorial Weekend Picnic yesterday! It was great to spend time with each other while the kids enjoyed the water slides. A big thanks to our grill masters and everyone who brought food to share!

Although this weekend we have the opportunity to take time off and enjoy the company of family and friends, Pastor Travis reminded us to take time to remember those who have given their lives to defend our freedom as Americans. We are so blessed to live in a country in which we are free to gather and worship our great God, but this freedom did not come free. And this reminds us that our ultimate freedom in Christ likewise came at a cost, the price of His life on the cross. So as we enjoy our political freedoms as Americans and our spiritual freedom in Christ, may we never forget the great price that was paid to secure both.

We hope you can join us tomorrow, May 24th, for our annual Memorial Weekend Picnic! We'll meet at 5pm on the Glenbrook side of the building. The church will be providing the burgers and trimmings. Bring sides, desserts, drinks, and a lawn chair.
