Now that October has arrived, we can certainly see the effects of autumn. The leaves are changing, and gardens are finishing up for the year. It is getting dark earlier and earlier, and we can feel a change in the air. One thing that hasn't changed is our commitment to God's word. Come, taste and see that the LORD is Good! (Psalm 34:8)

Speaking of tasting, on October 10, we will have our next Community Outreach Meal, from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm, or until the food runs out. Come in through the back door, and down the stairs. All are invited. We have been blessed to see this growing each time!

Have you gotten away from church through summer activities, vacations, visiting with family, camping, etc? If so, this is a great time to get back to church. The summer is coming to an end, most people are already in their fall routines with school, etc., and we have lots of ways to help you grow in our Savior Jesus Christ.

Our Morning Worship service takes place at 10:00am. We have music (combination of hymns, praise and worship music, and special music from various people in the congregation) as well as prayer time, announcements, and a message from the Bible. An offering plate is available at each door where people come in, and giving is between that person and the Lord. There are envelopes for giving specifically to various ministries, such as missionaries we support, general giving, building fund, etc. This gives us the opportunity to gather together as God's people and be encouraged in the days in which we live. Make plans to come, and keep checking this page for more info, or call us at 207-924-6475.

The highest calling, blessing, and privilege of the believer is to be conformed into the image of Christ. God had actually created man in His own image, but that image was fractured, broken, and corrupted when Adam made the choice to disobey God. However, believers are instructed to "put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him" (Colossians 3:10). The process is lifelong and at times feels difficult as He refines us and shapes us, but the end result is worth it and God is given glory through the process and the outcome completed at the return of Christ because we "will see Him as He is" (1 John 3:3).

We hope that this selection of hymns and other songs this month will prove to be a blessing to you and bring your mind to Who and what we, as believers, aspire to, and encourage you in that process. Please check out the playlist in the comments.

September has arrived, and there have been several hot and dry spells this summer. Wildlife often suffers also, as they seek relief from thirst.

In John 7, chapter, Jesus talks about water and thirst, and uses that as an illustration of who He is. He said in John 7:37- "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." (nkjv) Have you come to Him for your spiritual thirst? Have you thought about your need with regard to your Creator? Just as we need water for our physical life, the Bible says we have a spiritual need for eternal life. Jesus has provided the only way for us to be reconciled to God the Father, as He paid the price for our sin upon the cross (John 3:16). Have you considered your spiritual need before God?

Summer is ending, the days are shortening, and students for the most part are back to school. As the summer break comes to an end, we can look forward to the fall, with cooler temps, changing leaves, and more harvests of apples, pumpkins, potatoes, etc. God has blessed us with a rich display of the seasons here in Maine. Are we thankful? Have we given Him thanks for all things? He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, including us. The Bible says we are to give thanks to Him for His goodness and His mercy (Psalm 106:1). He loves you and knows you- do you know Him? You can know Him better through the study of the Bible.

With September approaching, we will be starting up some of the ministries that have been on break for the summer, including Sunday School (9:00 am Sunday mornings, for all ages–announcement to come). These are ways for all of us to grow in God and His word, and we invite you to be a part! We have a ladies’ fellowship, as well as Bible studies and fellowships taking place. Don’t miss out- if you are looking for a church home, we would love to have you come this week and see what God is doing at Garland Community Baptist.

Keep checking this page for the start of these and other ministries and activities.
