Have you been to church lately? Perhaps you have never attended a church service. Maybe you aren’t sure what happens when the people gather. I would like to talk about Morning Worship for a moment, to give people an idea of what to expect…
We meet at 10:00 am here at the church building, and begin with a welcome and “Call to worship”. It is a brief time in which Scripture, prayer and some words of encouragement are brought to get us focused on worship of the Lord. Then music is sung (we have both hymns and praise and worship music, as well as “Special music” that people bring to praise God and build up one another in Him. We also have a time of prayer, and time in the Bible. Right now, we have been in the book of Philippians (a book of the New Testament) for a while, and we look at a particular chapter as we go through, reading and teaching on the verses found there, and drawing application for our lives. We then close with another song, and are dismissed through prayer or a “benediction”, which is usually read from the Bible. An offering plate is available at each door where people come in, and giving is between that person and the Lord. There are envelopes for giving specifically to various ministries, such as missionaries we support, general giving, building fund, etc.
The baptism this Sunday will directly follow the service at Lake Wassookeag. Please bring a chair and a picnic lunch for yourself if you'd like!
