Garland Community Baptist Church

Garland Community Baptist Church Thank you for taking the time to stop by! He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.

We believe in sharing the love of Christ and the way of salvation by serving others as a harbor for the spiritually broken; and becoming a mature family of brothers and sisters through the teachings of the Bible and the work of the Holy Spirit. As with our website, we pray this will be a place where you can learn more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and what it is He has done for you. When

speaking to a woman who was in mourning over the death of her brother…
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26 (NKJV)

Our question for you today is- “Do YOU believe this”? Have you come by faith to the Savior Jesus Christ for deliverance from sin? Have you recognized that this life is meant to be so much more than just trudging through each day? Do you understand God’s great love for you, that He sent His one and only Son to pay the price for your sin, that you may have everlasting life? Feel free to contact us if you would like to talk about this, would like prayer, or have questions about Garland Community Baptist. The Lord bless! Pastor Scott Millett

This is the time of year for graduations, whether it be from high school or college, and with it, people are making decisions about their futures. We would like to encourage you to remember that it is God who have given you the opportunities you are presented with, and not to forget Him in your future plans. I have told students many times over the years not to “graduate” from the Lord, but to draw closer to Him and His word as they embark on the next page of their life. For each of us, that begins with time in the Bible and in prayer. How has your time with God been lately? Do you have a church fellowship you can be a part of, to grow in Christ and to serve Him and others?

This Sunday we want to invite you to come to Garland Community Baptist. This Sunday morning at 10:00 am we have our final Sunday School class for the summer (for all ages), and then Morning Worship starts at 11:00 am. All are welcome! We will spend time singing praise songs and hymns, time of prayer, as well as studying God’s word together, so that we may grow in Him, and have strength for the day-to-day circumstances we face. We hope to see you this week!

When the snow is falling in the depths of winter, I find myself longing for warm weather, when you can be outside more with family, whether it be a barbeque, splashing in a pool, playing wiffle ball, etc. One thing we tend to dread, however, is the presence of blackflies. Though God has a place for them in His creation, while they are here they are relentless and overwhelming at times, and when they are gone, there is genuine relief.

Are you feeling overwhelmed with circumstances in your life? Does it seem at times, like it will never end? Do you wonder if there is hope for this life? We would like to encourage you to give us a call, or send an email, and also to come to one of our services, and learn about God, and our place in His plan. We can also schedule a time to meet and talk about questions and concerns you might have. Feel free to connect with us today.

The psalmist continually makes remarks of praising God for His goodness and making known His wondrous deeds to others. The Lord‘s greatest work is that of salvation, where Jesus died on the cross and rose again to save sinners, and all who place their faith in Christ will be saved. This is the message of the Gospel: God’s good news. As believers, we have a story to tell of God‘s goodness. May’s music theme is on the Gospel Testimony, where we remember God‘s goodness to us and retell that story to one another and to the rest of the world to remind everyone of the hope we have today and for all of eternity, in Christ. Here we are, now entering the month of May. The days are continuing to lengthen and warm, and we once again experience the black flies and other bugs that come out in droves this time of year. It is the month where summer is just around the corner, and at times, the days are as warm as any day in July. We begin to barbeque in earnest, and students look forward to school winding down. Lawn mowers come to life, as the grass tends to grow very quickly. There is much to be thankful for.

We would like to invite you to come out for worship this week to do just that- give thanks to Almighty God for His goodness upon us. We have Sunday School at 10:00 am for all ages. Following Sunday School, we have Morning Worship at 11:00 am. We assemble for worship and praise, prayer, and a study of God’s word.

The Bible says we are to keep strong in our confession of hope, because of God’s faithfulness. We are not to neglect to assemble together, and to consider each other in order to “stir up love and good works”. We are to do this even more as we see “the Day approaching”. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

It may be confusing to some why believers in Jesus Christ assemble each week, not just on Sunday, but throughout the week. We do so for the reasons just mentioned, as found in Scripture. We know that though we are fallen as a people, if we know Jesus Christ as our Savior we are forever changed, and His love for us was demonstrated through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension back to the Father. We are saved through Him, and we live for Him, though not perfectly this side of glory.

We would love to talk with you about these things, and anything else you might ask. We encourage you to come this week and see what the Lord has done for you!

As the ground warms up we can put winter behind us, and look forward to gardens of various kinds, and getting outdoors more for activities. We also want to invite you to come out for worship this week. We have Sunday School at 10:00am for all ages, where Scripture is opened to bring hope and God’s plan for living. Following Sunday School, we have Morning Worship at 11:00am. We assemble for worship and praise, prayer, and a study of God’s word.
