Garland Community Baptist Church

Garland Community Baptist Church Thank you for taking the time to stop by! He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.

We believe in sharing the love of Christ and the way of salvation by serving others as a harbor for the spiritually broken; and becoming a mature family of brothers and sisters through the teachings of the Bible and the work of the Holy Spirit. As with our website, we pray this will be a place where you can learn more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and what it is He has done for you. When

speaking to a woman who was in mourning over the death of her brother…
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26 (NKJV)

Our question for you today is- “Do YOU believe this”? Have you come by faith to the Savior Jesus Christ for deliverance from sin? Have you recognized that this life is meant to be so much more than just trudging through each day? Do you understand God’s great love for you, that He sent His one and only Son to pay the price for your sin, that you may have everlasting life? Feel free to contact us if you would like to talk about this, would like prayer, or have questions about Garland Community Baptist. The Lord bless! Pastor Scott Millett

Wow! Where is this year going? By the end of this month, we will be half-way through 2026. Hard to believe. It is the time of graduations, weddings, school ending, and summer fun beginning. With that being said...

We, at Garland Community Baptist, have a FREE community BBQ tomorrow, June 13th, from 11:30am-1:00pm (or until the food runs out), right out on our church lawn (if raining, we will have it inside in the fellowship hall). All are welcome to attend. We will have hot dogs and hamburgers, salads, desserts and drinks available, along with info about our church services, ministries, events, etc. We encourage you to come and enjoy!

If you have questions, please connect with us through this page, email us at [email protected], or call 207-924-6475.

We are now half way through this year. Life goes by, for the most part, so very quickly. How are things going in your life? Do you feel as though you are just getting through each day?

As we talked about earlier this month, God loves you and me. He loves you so much that He willingly sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to pay the price for your sin and mine, taking our shame upon Himself on the cross, that we might be forgiven if we believe upon Him for everlasting life. The Bible says that "There is none righteous, no not one"- Romans 3:10 (nkjv). It continues in Romans to say that we all have sinned and come short of God's glory, and that the wages of that sin is death, but that God's gift to us is eternal life in Jesus, if we have believed upon Him (Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16). Have you given thought to what incredible love God has demonstrated to you?

Please feel free to contact us to talk about your life in the Lord, that you can find assurance in Jesus. We are a church that prays, so you can also tell us of things you would like prayer for.

Our world is definitely in conflict, but what isn't so obvious is that it's a battle playing out in the spiritual places over people's souls. It's not a clash about different opinions; it's a war is over ideologies, identity, morality, good and evil, and if God really is in charge and trustworthy. What is right? What is wrong? Does it matter? Should we serve God or ourselves? How can we know? And will good or evil win?

The good news is that Jesus, God the Son, won the victory over sin on the cross and that He is the risen, returning Savior. He will reign over all and for all of eternity. Someday, "every knee will bow and every tongue...confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10-11) and there will be no doubt in anyone's mind that He truly is King of Kings and that His way is perfect. As believers, we fight from a point of victory because we trust and we know that Jesus already overcame.

We hope that the songs we selected for June's theme of "Spiritual Warfare and Victory in Jesus" are encouraging to you. We'll be singing some of them each week. If you would like to listen to them, we've included the playlist in the comments below.

June begins on Monday! We are in that very short season in Maine known as summer. So many things to do, so many things to catch up on from the winter and spring. So many places to go. What about God and your relationship with Him? Everyone has times when they are gone away for vacation, trips, etc. Yet, it can become very easy to not come to church or mid-week service week after week, and allow it to become a habit. God’s Word and the fellowship of His people bring with them a joy that transcends all other human activities, and yet it often can take a back seat to what we may think are priorities. As you make your summer plans, make sure God is included!

Have you been to one of our Wednesday Bible studies? We meet at 10:00 am each week. We also have different events throughout the year to get together and we post about them on our page. We welcome you to come see what God has for you this and every week.

This coming weekend we remember the great sacrifice so many before us have given, that we might have freedom in this country. Though we are far from a perfect nation, we can be thankful for those we will remember this Memorial Day. Certainly, many think of this as the kick-off weekend for summer, and no doubt there will be barbeques a plenty. It is a blessing to be able to enjoy that time with family and friends, and yet we should never forget what Memorial Day is for.

There is also One who has paid the ultimate sacrifice for you and me, and His name is Jesus. He willingly, as the Son of God, went to the cross to bear your sin and mine, taking our shame upon Himself, that we might be forgiven if we believe upon Him for everlasting life. It is because of our sin that we are separated from God, and we cannot in and of ourselves “fix” that gulf between God and mankind. Only the perfect Sacrifice, Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was able to do that, of which we recently celebrated on Resurrection Sunday. The Bible says “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6 (nkjv). Though that was written about 700 years before Jesus came to this earth, clothed in humanity, it was fulfilled completely in Him, and we, by believing upon Him, can have eternal life.

Have you considered how God has prepared the way for you? Why not find out! Please feel free to contact us to talk about your life in the Lord, that you can find assurance in Jesus.
