UUSG welcomes all people to contribute to conversations on this page and to share content directly related to Unitarian Universalism. There are seven principles which Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote:

# The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
# Justice, equit

y and compassion in human relations;
# Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
# A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
# The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
he goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
# Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. Unitarian Universalism (UU) draws from many sources:

Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;

Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;

Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;

Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;

Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;

Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature. These principles and sources of faith are the backbone of our religious community.

Benediction for the Heavy Heart

Good morning. I missed your “good”
because a plane, because a truck, because
a gun, because a cop, because a government,
because a people suffering, because too many
people suffering, because war, because famine,
because some mornings it is so hard
to rise, to wake, to be a self.

There is a pause here. There is a deliberate
cessation. I want a cessation to the noise
in my head, to the ache in the collective
heart of this world. When I was young
this seemed possible. . . .

I want your mornings “good,” your evenings “good,”
all the late nights and sunrises and afternoons
and moments pressed against the ticking
glass of your life “good.”

Breathe. For yourself. For each other. Let
us breathe in when others cannot. When we
can do nothing else. Let us stretch ourselves
open to embrace our friends, extend
our bodies outward to anyone willing to meet us
and even those we think may not be willing. Let us
hold each other for this moment. For this
blink of human existence.

URGENT!!!

Dear Community,
We are witnessing a surge of ICE raids and violent attacks against our immigrant communities across the state. We refuse to allow for more inaction by MA leadership! If you are outraged at the scenes of agents ripping apart families, violently dragging people out of their cars and homes, and disappearing them to far-away detention centers without due process, there are several actions you can take.

* sign on to this petition as an individual; let's meet or exceed the goal of 20K signatures! https://bit.ly/sign-healey-demands
* Join other advocates from around the state on Thursday May 15, at 12pm, on the State House steps for a press conference. Bring your signs and be ready to chant.
