We highly recommend this page about Matthew Henry and his writing - wonderful, biblical, timeless spiritual and life advice.

"Meditation in God's word. The more intimately we converse with the word of God, and the more we dwell upon it in our thoughts, the better able we shall be to speak to God in his own language and the better we shall know what to pray for as we ought. Reading the word will not serve, but we must meditate in it." β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐑𝐞𝐰 π‡πžπ§π«π² on Ps. 119:148 [pictured: Edward Thompson Davis, π‘†π‘’π‘›π‘‘π‘Žπ‘¦ π΄π‘“π‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘›π‘œπ‘œπ‘› (1853)]

The verse in the image we shared here applies to men and children as well!

We "look" at and to Jesus, as described by Pastor Ken in his sermon last Sunday on Jesus' Beatitudes in Matthew 5: 1-12, but the verb "look" in reference to Jesus has a rich and full meaning as many Christians - and as the Holy Scriptures - use the word.

"Looking at Jesus" in part means knowing Him and walking with Him in our lives in a way that is based on the Holy Scriptures, and on real-life accounts of people in the scriptures who actually knew Jesus in human form, or who knew people who knew Him (for example, Luke and Paul knew the disciples and other people who knew Jesus). The apostle Paul had an encounter with the risen Jesus. The Holy Spirit - who Jesus promised would come to His disciples - leads us.

We also look at Jesus and know Him through observing how He followed and trusted His heavenly Father, through His teachings, His actions, His words, His behavior, His faith, love, mercy, compassion, justice, His miracles, His work in the lives of those who knew Him and in our lives, and much more. Knowing Jesus is a life-long process!

Pastor Ken (right) enjoys the Gardiner Waterfront Thursday Cruise Night too! Here he is at Cruise Night with two of our church family. Bud hosts tailgating guests comfortably anywhere with his vintage folding table. Tonight the show is on from 4:30 - 6:30pm, but there's a 50% possibility of rain.
