Restoration Ministries Providing spiritual and physical help in time of natural or man made disaster

Innovative evangelistic outreach designed to do reach those for Christ who may need a different approach

02/06/2022

Restoration has been praying about different types of ministry that are less physical than our long time focus on disaster relief. Since the Pandemic so many Pastors have been under very heavy strain, trying to keep members, worry about finances, live streaming Church taking away from people actually gathering. Our idea is to focus on smaller congregations with Pastors that may or may not be bivocational and do the following,
1. Create a prayer team with fellow ministers and others that will commit to pray for the chosen Pastor each day for a week.
2. Notify the chosen Pastor that they have been chosen for this prayer week which we are working on a name for.
3. On Saturday at the end of the week have a work day for the Pastors Church or home and provide various maintenance projects.
4. Provide lunch during work day and have in person prayer.
5. Present Pastor and his wife with gift card for getaway weekend.
Anyone interested in being involved in any part of this ministry effort can contact me on messenger.
Any thoughts or input on this will be greatly appreciated.
More details will be posted as we work them out.

I have been involved or around Tornado and Hurricane damage most of my life and involved in disaster relief a large part of it. I hear folks say you should have seen this or that from a storm and I want to say "I have" but instead say "yeah that's really bad" because I know it's important to them. I have been watching the news reports on the Kentucky storm all day and other areas affected by last night's tornado, my heart breaks seeing so many hurting people that have lost loved ones as well as homes and livelihoods. My impulse is to load up and gather who can go and head out and jump in wherever we are needed but my body says "You can't do that anymore", Parkinsons causes dizziness and other issues that are itself would be hazardous for me to go. Inability to do things is going to be harder on me than the disease itself and times like this are the worst. So the best I can do is encourage my friends to give to reputable organizations, volunteer if you can and if you can't do those things you can keep all involved in prayer.

With the recent health diagnosis physical labor has been pretty much ruled out for the most part of our ministry, however Restoration will continue to help in any ways we can. I have always had a desire to load up a truck and trailer full of warm jackets and toys and take it too the East Tennessee mountains for Christmas, just travel backroads and bless kids with a gift and possibly a jacket. We would need some support in doing this and you have always supported our work. I will be making some contacts and plans in the next few months and give you more information then.

Getting that "Got to go" feeling!

03/03/2020

Although my heart hurts from the loss of life and devastation from the news of the Nashville tornado this morning and the desire to help. I feel it is in the best interest of my family needs at this time to not respond to the storm. I have many friends in disaster ministry that are assessing the damage and ready to assist. Our prayers are with you and the people of Tennessee as you go, God Bless You.

Sometimes these pictures bring back such memories of joy and emotion that I wish this type work would never have to end but age catches up with us all and its time to transition to a less physical ministry. I have been blessed over the years to train under the Billy Graham Disaster Response Team, International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and have ministered in some capacity for over 40 years and stopping is not an option a call on ones life doesn't stop it changes so after a lot of prayer, thought, sadness and reflection Restoration will no longer respond in a physical capacity to disasters. Our new focus will be on serving as a Community Chaplain that will still respond to tragic events but in a Ministry only service. We will also do visitation and follow up after care, A lot of pain in our communities with a lot of people hurting we will also be ministering in our home area as well. We have been blessed with some funding and equipment to make this transition and we are very thankful for that. God has blessed and supplied every mile we have traveled over the years and I know He will continue to do so. I would ask for your prayer that He will lead us to the hurting, broken and lonely to make a difference and offer as always....Hope!

We will soon be shipping our boxes of snacks and other items to troops overseas again this year. I recently met and talked to one of the soldiers who received one last year and he was very appreciative and said the items go super fast. If you would like to contribute and be a part of this blessing you can contribute to,

Restoration will be looking into forming a construction team to assist in the Bahamas when reconstruction begins. We will team with a larger ministry that can support workers on the island. More information as we put this together.
