PRAYING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
A Prayer for the New Semester

As a new semester begins, young people return to school, college, and university, facing new opportunities and challenges. This is a crucial time for the church to surround them with prayer.
Today’s youth encounter academic pressure, social media influences, shifting cultural values, questions about identity and faith, and uncertainty about the future. Many are also becoming increasingly disconnected from their families and churches. Research indicates a significant generational decline in religious commitment among young people. In this challenging season, they need a church that listens, understands, encourages, and walks alongside them.

Let us pray especially concerning the following three aspects:

Pray for their faith. May young people come to know Jesus Christ personally, grow in God’s Word, and develop a strong faith that can withstand doubts, pressures, and competing values.

Pray for their relationships. May God surround them with loving families, faithful friends, teachers, pastors, mentors, and Christian communities where they can experience belonging, grace, and truth. Meaningful relationships within the church can strengthen their foundation of faith.

Pray for their future. May they pursue not only academic and professional success but also God’s purpose for their lives. Jesus reminds us of the following: “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?” (Matthew 16:26 - NIV).

As a new semester begins, let us faithfully lift our young people in prayer. May God protect them, strengthen their faith, guide their decisions, and lead them to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
