of Thelema as the basis of human conduct. This does not mean "do whatever you want," but instead charges each human being with the task of discovering and carrying out his or her True Will--the deepest expression of your innermost self. Thelema promotes the idea that every individual should have the freedom to do his or her True Will without interference from others. However, it also teaches self-discipline and personal responsibility, as no action is free from consequence. Various spiritual teachings and techniques are provided to assist in this process. Thelemites are expected to employ skepticism and the scientific method in utilizing these practices, allowing them to have spiritual experiences without any need for blind faith, superstition, or a belief in the supernatural. assists in this process by providing ceremonies of initiation. These are dramatic symbolic ceremonies designed to assist you in discovering your true identity. The symbols and experiences encountered in these ceremonies have a profound psychological impact that will enable you to embody O.T.O.'s stated purpose of "securing the Liberty of the Individual and his or her advancement in Light, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, and Power through Beauty, Courage, and Wit, on the Foundation of Universal Brotherhood." In addition to initiations, Golden Lotus regularly hosts performances of the Gnostic Mass. The Mass expresses the nature of the universe in symbolic form in a manner conducive to enabling its participants to have direct spiritual experiences and realizations. It provides fulfillment of the human religious instinct without requiring a belief in anything contrary to scientific understanding. Classes and social events are also held on a regular basis.
