Plot twist: Thursday’s citizenship lesson came with cake. 🎂🇺🇸

Our free citizenship classes are about more than preparing for a test—they’re about people. This week, our Thursday morning class paused their lesson to surprise Miss Cindy with flowers and cake for her birthday! 🎂💛

Moments like this are a snapshot of what happens at King of Kings: neighbors becoming friends, encouragement being shared, and lives being supported along the journey.

Our citizenship classes are one of many ways we serve our community and share the love of Jesus. It’s a joy to walk alongside our neighbors in both practical support and faith.

Whether you’ve connected with us through a class, an event, our school, or another part of our ministry, we’d love to welcome you to worship with us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am (English) and 10:30 am (Vietnamese and Spanish). Come as you are—there’s a place for you here. 🤍

There are moments that remind us what a church community is meant to be. ❤️

This was one of them.

Families laughing together. Children excited for a new school year. Neighbors becoming friends. Volunteers serving with joyful hearts. And God’s love shining through it all.

✨ Together, we welcomed approximately 300 people
🎒 Distributed 215 backpacks to students
🍧 Served over 400 snow cones
🤝 Countless conversations, smiles, prayers, and new connections

To every volunteer, donor, and family who joined us—thank you. Your kindness made this more than a community event. You helped create a place where people felt truly welcomed, valued, and loved.

Our prayer is that every person who came knows this:

You always have a place in God’s house.

Summer midweeks just feel different 💛

This past Sunday, our King of Kings church and school family gathered to give thanks and say farewell to Jon and Mary Plocher.

We are deeply grateful for the many years God has allowed them to serve as teachers in our school - of Kings Christian Academy. Jon from 2014–2026 (and previously 1995–2000) and Mary from 2015–2026. They have been a steady, faithful presence in the life of our church and school community.

Through expert classroom instruction, epic playground game inventions, meaningful chapel services, directing choirs and ensembles for worship, giving piano lessons, leading Bible studies, coordinating track meets and field days, supporting Trunk or Treat, directing Spring Flings, accompanying worship services, backyard conversations, THE bean dip (if you know, you know), a true “child whisperer” gift, leading accreditation processes, planting trees in "graduation grove", and countless everyday moments -- they have shared the love of Christ and cared for students, families, and our congregation with humility and grace.

Their ministry has left a lasting impact on our children and so many families who have been blessed by their encouragement and Christ-centered care.

While we will miss them dearly, we rejoice that the Lord has called them into a new chapter of ministry in Washington. We send them with full hearts—filled with gratitude, love, and prayer.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121

Jon and Mary, thank you for your faithful service and for being such an important part of the King of Kings family. You will always have a home here. God be with you till we meet again. 💜
