Bible Scripture: Luke 9:57-62 & Luke 14:25-27, Cost of Following Jesus

Lesson overview: Isn’t Jesus all about love; then why did he tell people they had to leave their family in order to be his followers? Becoming a disciple of Jesus means putting Him and His Kingdom before everything else including our wants and the desire to please
or impress important people in our lives.
Have you ever ask yourself: Where does Jesus rank in your life next to family? Work? Hobbies?

Following Jesus means being completely devoted to Christ, even if family and friends don’t support me.
~ Jesus wants us to choose him over everything.
~ Preteens will learn that sometimes choosing Jesus means going against friends, family, and others who do not share our faith.
~ Preteens are being challenged to fully commit to Jesus.

Something to think about is:
Who has the most influence on the things you do or say: God, or friends and family who do not live for God?

Lesson Title: Liar!

This week, students learned about the importance of honesty and integrity through the story of Abraham and Sarah in Genesis 12 and Genesis 20.

The lesson focused on how even “small lies” can lead to bigger problems. Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife because he was afraid for his safety. Although he was trying to protect himself, his deception hurt others, created confusion, and revealed a lack of trust in God’s protection.

Students discussed how lies can:

* Damage relationships and trust
* Hurt our reputation and integrity
* Become unhealthy habits
* Show fear instead of faith in God

We also learned that God calls us to be people of truth, even in difficult or uncomfortable situations. Honesty honors God and strengthens our relationships with others.

Main Takeaway:
One little lie can create big consequences, but God desires for us to walk in truth and trust Him in every situation.

Key Scriptures:

* Genesis 12:10-20
* Genesis 20:1-17

Family Discussion Questions:

1. Why do people sometimes lie?
2. What are some consequences of dishonesty?
3. How can trusting God help us choose honesty?
4. Why is integrity important in friendships and family relationships?

Prayer Focus:
Ask God to help your family walk in honesty, courage, and trust in Him even when telling the truth is difficulty to you .

Dear Parents,

This week in our middle school lesson, students learned about Amity — being peacemakers. Through Matthew 5:9-12 and 38-47, we explored how God calls us to pursue peace, forgive others, and bring people together instead of causing division.

We discussed how animosity, conflict, and hurt feelings can damage relationships, but Jesus teaches us to respond with love, kindness, and reconciliation. Students were encouraged to reflect on ways they can practice being peacemakers with friends, classmates, siblings, and others in their daily lives.

We also challenged students to think about relationships that may need healing and how God can help them take steps toward peace and restoration.

Our prayer this week was:“Dear God, please teach us to pursue peace, so that we can be a people who bring others together. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Thank you for supporting your child’s spiritual growth and encouraging them to live out God’s love and peace at home and in their community.

Blessings, Chosen

Worship Night!!!

Hi parents! We had an amazing worship night with the students. God’s presence was truly felt throughout the evening, and it was such a special time together. We were also blessed to have special guests join us, which made the night even more meaningful.

The students learned more about what it means to worship and how to pray in a personal and genuine way. It was encouraging to see them engaged and open during this time. Thank you for allowing your students to be part of it—we’re excited to see how they continue to grow! 🙏
