COVID-19 Update from Pastor Nathan
Dear Garden City First Assembly Family,
As of Friday, March 13, 2020, at 10:00 P.M.
__
This Sunday, we will have the Main service at 10:30 A.M., and we will be canceling Sunday School. In our 10:30 service, we will combine all ages for worship, thus canceling nursery and KidsFirst.
__
Today, after reviewing suggestions from the CDC, and after visiting with city, county, and health officials, we feel it is safe to have our Main service this Sunday. After this weekend, we will be suspending all our on-campus gatherings, including Women’s events, Chi Alpha, and Mid-week Activities for a period of time.
__
On Sunday, I will be talking to our GCFirst family regarding the Coronavirus situation and what our response will be as a church over the coming weeks.
__
With how rapidly the information about COVID-19 increases and changes, we wanted to make you aware of the precautionary measures we are implementing. We are mindful of the current concerns and want to assure you that we are taking the health and well-being of our church family and our community seriously.
__
- No hand to hand contact. We are requesting that you do not shake hands, fist bump or give hugs during this time. Smile and wave!
- We will not be doing section-time, passing offering buckets or providing prayer lines for the sick - although we will still pray as a congregation for those in need, and there will always be opportunities for you to give.
- We have sanitized all surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, pews, etc.
- Pre-packaged hand sanitizer cloths will be given at the door, and hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the building.
- As mentioned, nursery and KidsFirst will be combined in the sanctuary with the adults. There will be a family viewing room for you to watch the service.
- We are providing an online, live service for those who feel more comfortable worshipping from home.
__
As a precaution, we encourage those who are 65 years of age or older, or those with compromised immune systems to watch online. Please note: If you or anyone in your family is feeling sick, we would ask you to stay home as well.
__
For future updates on our response to the Coronavirus situation – you can follow our social media platforms for the latest information. Please join us in praying for our national, state, and local leaders as they process decisions and for all those affected by the situation. We know as we pray, God is going to go before us.
__
We love you and are praying for you,
Pastor Nathan & Amber Sheridan

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
