Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Christ is risen! Alleluia!

"They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen'" (Luke 24:2-5).

We are pleased to announce the election of the Rev. Yehiel Curry as presiding bishop of the ELCA! Bishop-elect Curry was elected on the fifth ballot with 70.34% of the vote.

Ever-living God, strengthen and sustain Bishop-elect Curry, that with patience and understanding he may love and care for your people. Grant that together we may follow in the way of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

This Father’s Day, we remember in prayer biological fathers, stepfathers, adoptive fathers and foster fathers, that they will treasure the joys of fatherhood and find support and wise counsel for the challenges of parenting, passing along their faith, teaching compassion and respect, and encouraging and guiding their children. — Prayer Ventures

Today is Memorial Day. We remember, honor and give thanks for those in the armed forces who have given their lives for the sake of peace, justice and freedom. We remember the families and loved ones who supported their service, grieve their loss and carry forward their memory and legacy. (ELCA Prayer Ventures)

“[Peter] said to [Jesus], ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep’” (John 21:17).
Ask God to help us align our expressions of faith and love for God with how we respect, love and care for our neighbors in need and our siblings in Christ.

This year marks the 1,700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed, which clearly articulates the complexity of our faith. A later addition to the creed by the Latin Church – the words "and the Son," known as the filioque – divided the Eastern and Western churches for almost a millennium. Last year, this division was meaningfully addressed in the Common Statement on the Filioque. The ELCA Church Council recently recommended “that the 2025 Churchwide Assembly prayerfully receive the 2024 Lutheran Orthodox Common Statement on the Filioque." To support this recommendation, a new study guide provides a variety of entry points into the statement, including study, worship, prayer and liturgy. More information about the filioque and the study guide is available here:
