Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi this year on Sunday, June 7, following the traditional rhythm of the calendar shortly after Trinity Sunday. The feast, instituted in 1264 by Pope Urban IV, highlights the Church’s faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. “Corpus Christi” is Latin for “Body of Christ,” drawing our attention to Christ truly present under the appearances of bread and wine.

Throughout history, deep devotion to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has marked the lives of the saints; by following their example, we too can grow in love for Jesus present in the Eucharist and strengthen our friendship with him through his Body and Blood.

Following the 11AM Mass we will have a Procession to Duffy and Benedicition.
If you attend a different Mass but wish to come for the Procession, please wait quietly in the Narthex at the end of the 11AM Mass.

Last Friday, a group from our parish had the opportunity to go to Holy Trinity in Orangeburg for one of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage stops in our diocese.
There was Mass, Adoration, and testimonies from a few of the Perpetual Pilgrims who are accompanying Jesus the whole way from St. Augustine to Philadelphia.

——— About the National Pilgrimage ———

In honor of America’s 250th year, the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will carry the theme One Nation Under God. One Nation Under God is not a slogan—it’s an invitation to realign our lives, communities, and country under the sovereignty of Christ. It’s a call to build unity through prayer, and to let Jesus, present in the Eucharist, renew and heal the heart of our country, one soul at a time. As pilgrims on this route, we walk with Christ so that His love might draw our nation back to Him. You’re invited to join us, in person or in spirit, and offer prayers and sacrifices for the renewal of America.

The pilgrimage begins over Memorial Day weekend in St. Augustine, Florida, where the first Mass in our country was celebrated at the Our Lady of La Leche Shrine at Mission de Nombres. The route will continue up the Eastern Seaboard through most of the 13 original colonies, reaching as far north as New Hampshire and Maine.

Stops will be made in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, our country’s very first Catholic diocese, as well as the Archdiocese of Boston to visit significant national historical sites. The pilgrimage concludes over the 4th of July weekend in Philadelphia, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
