Some thoughts about today’s news

Likely you have already heard the news of the day. The news that the Church of Jesus Christ has been praying for these past 50 years.

Today, our Supreme Court has overturned Roe Vs. Wade sending abortion legislation back to the states.

In response we as Christ's Church should do several things.

We should rejoice! We should celebrate that God has answered our prayers! That God has heard our cries and pleas for life to be valued and He has answered in a big way. Today, we once again celebrate the goodness and faithfulness of our God.

But we also continue to pray. Today is not the end of abortion in our world or in our Nation even. This simply hands the decision over to each state. We need to continue to ask God to lead our states to value human life from the womb to the tomb.

We also need to ask the Church to be prepared. To be prepared to support pregnancy centers like Align Life Ministries. To be prepared to serve the single mom and the orphan. To be prepared to call our sons and daughters to adoption and foster care.

Today is a day that we celebrate but today is not the end to our world devaluing human life. Today is not the end of sin having a heinous affect on our world and lives.

Today we celebrate the goodness of God but today we do not cease from boldly approaching His throne of grace asking for His will to be done and His Kingdom to come... just as it is in Heaven.

Finally, we should pray for peace. Peace as the news of this decision spreads to those both for and against it. Peace for our officials and police officers. Peace for our nation.

And may we pray that the Church's response to this landmark day brings honor and glory to its humble Savior and Lord... Jesus Christ.
Praise be to His Great Name both now and forevermore.

A Tuesday tidbit from Sunday's sermon.

Tuesday’s takeaway from Sunday’s sermon,

As Christians whose hope is in Heaven and ultimately in Christ, we are allowed and even invited to grieve things that are hard. But the things that are hard in life don’t get the final word. It is always Christ and His love for us that gets the final word and it is that lens through which we view the world.

Join us Sunday as we discover what Jesus meant when He said that there is a sin that even He cannot forgive.

but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

Those are the word of Jesus... whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will NOT be forgiven.
So there is a sin that even Jesus cannot forgive? What does it mean to blaspheme the Holy Spirit? Have I committed the unforgivable sin?
These are all weighty questions and these are all questions that we will attempt to answer in week #4 of our Unfiltered Jesus series.
