Day 3: Equipped for the journey

Scripture: Romans 6:19
"Present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification."
The Christian life is a journey called sanctification. God is continually making us more like Jesus.

But no one goes on a difficult journey without preparation.
A hiker needs the proper equipment. Likewise, believers need spiritual tools for the journey ahead. God has provided everything we need:
His Word to guide us.
Prayer to strengthen us.
The Holy Spirit to lead us.
The church to encourage us.
Fellow believers to walk beside us.
The enemy gladly supplies everything needed for destruction. God supplies everything needed for transformation.
Sanctification happens one step at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One act of obedience at a time.
One day of trusting Jesus at a time.
Keep walking. Keep growing. Keep following the Shepherd.

Reflect:
Which spiritual disciplines need more attention in your life?

How can you better equip yourself for the journey of sanctification?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving me everything I need to follow You. Help me be disciplined in Your Word, pray

Memory Verse for the Week:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 6:23 (ESV) er, and fellowship so that I may grow in Christlikeness. Amen.

Day 2: You Are Not Who You Used to Be

Scripture: Romans 6:17–18
"But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart."
Paul says, "You were once slaves of sin." Those words are filled with hope. The old life is no longer your identity.
Perhaps there are things in your past that still haunt you. Maybe you remember the person you used to be, the mistakes you made, the people you hurt, or the shame you carry.
But the Gospel changes everything.
When we trust in Jesus Christ, we become new creations. We are forgiven, redeemed, and transformed from the inside out. Our past no longer defines us. Christ does.
Transformation is not merely changing our behavior. It is receiving a new heart that desires to obey God.
You are not who you used to be.
You do not have to return to the cage.
You do not have to wear the chains Christ has already broken.
You have been set free.

Reflect:
What old labels or failures do you still struggle to let go of?

How does knowing you are a new creation in Christ change your perspective?

Prayer:
Father, thank You that my past does not define me. Help me walk today as someone who has been made new in Christ. Amen.

Memory Verse for the Week:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 6:23 (ESV)

Day 1: Choose Your Master

Scripture: Romans 6:16
"Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey?"
Every person serves a master. We often think freedom means doing whatever we want, but Paul teaches that we will all obey someone or something. We can serve sin, our flesh, our desires, and the world, or we can serve Jesus Christ.
Before Christ, sin was our master. We followed our passions and pursued whatever made us feel good in the moment. Yet those things never truly satisfied us. They left us empty and wanting more.
Through Christ's death and resurrection, believers have been given a new choice. We are no longer forced to obey sin. We now have the freedom to follow our Savior.
The question today is simple: Who are you serving?
Every morning presents a new opportunity to choose. Will you feed the flesh, or will you follow the Shepherd? Will you pick up your old chains, or will you pick up your cross?
True freedom is found not in serving ourselves but in serving Jesus.

Reflect:
Who or what has been influencing your decisions lately?

Are there areas where you are serving self instead of Christ?

Prayer:
Lord, help me remember that I belong to You. Give me the desire and strength to follow You today and to serve You above all else. Amen.

Memory Verse for the Week:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 6:23 (ESV)
