THE PSALMS. PURE IN HEART.
"Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me." (Psalm 51:10 GNT)

Our desire should be to be pure in heart (ie., to possess a love of the Savior that is full of passion and faith) but that is a work that is always in progress since we are human after all. But be steadfast and relentless; don't change! God will always show more of Himself to those who crave purity.

THE PSALMS. DESIRE RIGHTEOUSNESS.
"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" (Psalm 42:1-2 NIV)

"Come all you weary, Come all you thirsty,
Come to the well that never runs dry...
Drink of the water, Come and thirst no more!"
("God So Loved" --We The Kingdom.)

THE PSALMS. TRUST HIM.
"But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands..." (Psalm 31:14-15 NIV)

David lived with and through an immense amount of stress. He had enemies desiring him harm, and lies were said about him time and again. He didn't have the confidence of the people around him. However, when everything seemed that it couldn't get any worse when he was at the "end of his rope", David was able to turn to God. He made the choice that we all have to make...trust God or not. Pray to be more like David!

THE PSALMS. HIS TIMING.
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (Psalm 27:14 NIV)

Waiting on the Lord is tough for us humans most of the time. Answers never seem to happen. But that's just our human emotions and feelings. We want deliverance on our schedule, which is not God's timing. However, don't give up! As Rev Tony Evans writes..."Waiting on God does not mean being passive: rather, it is an active engagement of life's challenges within the revealed will of God as we are waiting and hoping for his deliverance.

THE PSALMS. THE GLORY OF GOD.
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer" (Psalm 19:14 NLT)

In chapter 19 of the Book of Psalms, David stands in awe of all the wonders of God's glory and perfection of all that is created. David is an example to us to live our lives in accordance with all the instructions and ordinances that God has passed down to us. Our daily prayer should be to live in a way to please our Creator and Provider.

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. OUR SHIELD.
"But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain."
Psalm 3:3-4 NLT

When David was in a dangerous situation, he kept his focus on God rather than his enemies. This is a lesson for all of us. He prayed and praised the Lord. As the lyrics remind us, "the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace" (Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus).

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. HE IS OUR HOPE.
"You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas." Psalm 65:5 NLT

The Lord's power and strength are demonstrated in His sovereignty over creation. Mountains and seas bow to His will. Almighty God, our Father, is our eternal hope.

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. GOD IS MERCIFUL.
"Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Prayer is the believer's passport into the spiritual realm. So, when we're tempted to give up, that temptation is actually an invitation to draw near to the King's throne so we may receive mercy and find grace. (Dr. Tony Evans)

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. THE POWER OF PRAYER.
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” – 1 Timothy 2:1 (NLT)

In a culture of religious freedom, believers are able to have a public witness and share their faith. However, many live under the rule of oppressive regimes which seek to disallow those same freedoms. Our prayers...our petitions to God on others' behalf...are indeed a powerful weapon against the repression of freedom of thought, action, and the proliferation of the gospel.

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. A PRIVILEGE GIFTED TO US.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.” – Ephesians 6:18 NIV

The privilege God has given to us to approach Him is to be enjoyed and used at all times. Not a duty or requirement, but as the way to commune and converse with our Heavenly Father. Prayer is the divine means of putting on our spiritual armor; it is the reflection and work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. Live in a prayerful mode each day and please the Father!
