This Saturday, October 3rd, we will hold our Zen for Beginners instruction from 8-9 am. From 9:30-11 will be our Saturday morning sit, which includes meditation and a dharma talk. All are welcome!

Zen for Beginners is tomorrow, Saturday, September 5th, from 8-9 am. This event is geared towards those with no experience, but anyone is welcome.

Then from 9:30 - 11:00 there will be one hour of meditation (two 25-minute periods of sitting meditation with a 10-minute walking meditation in between) followed by a dharma talk. Beginners are welcome to stay for this event.

Dress comfortably. No fee, but donations gratefully accepted.

All are welcome to our monthly Zen for Beginners sessions. Each session followed by our monthly Saturday Morning Sit (meditation) and dharma talk by our teacher.

Join us this Tuesday, March 3rd for 30 minutes of zazen (Zen meditation) followed by 30 minutes of reading and discussion together. First-timers please arrive by 7. Others please be on your cushion by 7:25 for 7:30 pm bell.

Ben Connelly came to Kokosing Zen Center last fall to talk about his new book, Inside the Flower Garland Sutra. He will be giving a series of upcoming lectures on the book, available online. Highly recommended!

Huayan Buddhism arose in the sixth century in China with its roots in the Flower Garland (Huayan) Sutra. Huayan is relational, practical, and positive. Its emphasis on interdependence, celebration of the sensual world, social engagement, and diversity of people and practices has much to offer during this era when many folks see ever-deepening divisions. Ben recently published the book that will be used for the class; this is a wonderful opportunity to explore it with him. Our doors will be open tonight for our regular Tuesday evening schedule. We sit meditation from 7:30 to 8, then read and discuss Buddhist teachings together from 8 to 8:30.

First-timers please arrive by 7 pm for orientation. No preparation necessary. Just bring yourself as you are.

At our regular gathering next Tuesday, we will hold zazen (meditation) and then a memorial service for lives taken in Minneapolis and around our country and world, and for all those beings suffering in our world right now. We will acknowledge our grief and also renew our vow to help bring about a free world, where all beings may live in safety and ease.
