I strongly condemn the racist and dehumanizing video circulating that depicts President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes by President Trump. That kind of imagery is not “humor,” not “politics,” and not “free speech” in any moral sense, it is hatred dressed up for attention.

For Black people, this is not harmless or new. Animalistic imagery has been used for centuries to justify slavery, segregation, violence, and exclusion. When it resurfaces, especially in our public life, it reopens wounds and reinforces lies that have cost real lives.

We can disagree on policy without denying humanity. We can debate ideas without degrading people. Anything less is a failure of character.

Silence in moments like this is not neutrality, it is permission. As people of faith and conscience, we must say clearly: this is wrong.

Racism has no place in our politics, our culture, or our communities. We can, and must, do better.

🚨 Important Announcement – Avenue L Missionary Baptist Church 🚨

To our members and friends of Avenue L MBC,

Due to the upcoming freeze and expected hazardous weather conditions, we have made the decision to cancel all church services this Sunday. This includes Sunday School, Morning Worship, and all on-site activities.

Your safety is our priority, and we believe this is the wisest decision to ensure everyone remains safe during this time.

Please stay warm, take necessary precautions, and continue to pray for one another. We look forward to gathering again soon, Lord willing.

To all of our faithful viewers and supporters of The Historic Avenue L Missionary Baptist Church, THANK YOU. 🙏🏾 Your weekly presence during our live streams has blessed us more than you know. Many of you have worshiped with us from near and far, and we are truly grateful.

After prayer and careful consideration, we will no longer be streaming our services live. This shift allows us to strengthen our in-person worship experience and prepare for something greater in our digital ministry.

But this is not goodbye. It’s preparation. 🙌🏾

We invite you to join us in person for worship:
