What God is, we, created in God’s image, are to be.
In Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9, we learn about God’s qualities directly from God. God tells Moses that God is “a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin….” We, too, should strive to exhibit these traits.

Strive indeed! --- Some days we may do better than others, but sometimes it can be very difficult to show some people love, to refrain from letting loose with our anger, and to forgive what others have done or are doing!!!

(Scripture quote from World English Bible.)

The Sagittarius Full Moon is upon us! Each moon has characteristics taken from the location of the planets and moon within the zodiac, something astrologers understand much better than do I! They say that this full moon brings with it a time for us to honor and engage in activities related to knowledge, learning, truth, curiosity, and seeking. We also may need a bit of discernment and caution.

Knowledge is wonderful, gaining more knowledge is wonderful – and yet, we are faced with, or even constantly bombarded with, information. We need discernment to determine what is true – and even if accurate, what relates to our personal truth.

Caution is related not only to the explosion of information, but also to our seeking. We may feel the need for some adventure, or for doing something new. A new book … visiting a new place …. a new activity …. These all seem pretty safe. Deciding to move…. changing jobs …. creating a new relationship…. Well, maybe. But the old saying ‘Look before you leap' might well be heeded right now (and maybe always!) So, we need to seek what is new, because it helps us grow, and we need to be sure what we are seeking is good for us, should it be found. So, be cautious and go forward at the same time.

This is the first Blue Moon in two years. A Blue Moon is the second full moon within a calendar month. Because they are rare, they are special. But then, some of us might agree that the moon is always special no matter what her phase.

Our cards coincide with the suggestions above (love it when this happens!) Our Mary Magdalene Card is Heart Calling, and our Moonology Card tells us to Meditate and Contemplate. So perhaps the cards say we are to listen to the calls of our heart and reflect before taking any action – and then to move on if it feels right after our time of reflection.

Happy Pentecost, often called the birthday of the church!

Pentecost is a reminder – we each have spiritual gifts, currently known or unknown to us. Each of us! Everyone has their own gift/s, and each gift is equally important and needed. Our gift/s allow each of us, and all of us, to do the work God has called us to do in this world. Are you using your gift/s?????

Psalm 27:1, 4, 7-8 is one of the readings for Sunday. Many of us may be feeling confused, upset, even afraid about the conditions in the world today. If you are feeling this way, please read the words of this psalm - it's about believing in and trusting God. It might help to read these words often.

Or, the short form from Julian of Norwich: All shall be well.....

The New Moon is always a time for reflection, consideration, releasing, and planning what we would like to see in our futures. This is true for the current new moon in Ta**us; however, celestial shifting means we will soon be in Gemini, so there may be a bit of a dual aspect to the time ahead.

This may be a time to consider, among other things, our health, to paying attention to the whole of who we are. Changes may be needed to create healthier bodies, minds, spirits, homes, finances, relationships…and more. Do we really know who we are?

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the expectations we have put upon ourselves, or that we have inherited from others, that we think we are those expectations. Maybe we are, but do we know?

In this magical time, we can find a safe space to look in the mirror, see what images come up right away, and then go further – beyond the mirror, to see what other images of ourselves we may find. Hopefully, we will find self-acceptance, self-love, pride, and peace.

Our Mary Magdalene card tells us to consider, accept, and feel our emotions. We are encouraged to make life changes in those areas where we feel bad and focus on ways to enhance the joy that’s already part of us.

To do this, we may need to follow the advice from our Moonology card, which tells us to step out of our comfort zone!

As we read Acts 8:5-8,14-17, we may recall that in other Biblical stories, the Samaritans, although disliked by the Jewish people, were given as examples - role models.

Jesus told of the Good Samaritan, who cared for the injured man when others walked on by. And it was a Samaritan woman who accepted him as the Messiah and ran to tell the others, who then came to the well to greet him. And, in today’s story, the Samaritans accepted the words of Phillip.

Who, or what group of people, might we turn away from, due to historic or cultural antagonisms?

These stories may well suggest our error in doing so.

hmmmmm....!!!

In reading the scriptures: Acts 6:1-7, Psalm 33:1-2,4-5, 18-19; 1Peter 2:4-9, and John 14:1-12, learn how we are to live. We are to work together, and to find solutions when disagreements arise. We are to worship and trust God. Knowing we are all part of a community, we are to accept our differences and try to follow Jesus’ model for living. hmmmmmm

Do we do this? Or maybe the question could be, do we do this with the many different communities (groups) we are in. Or, we might ask, do we do this with people we really, really like, but not with others?

hmmmmmm (If so, we are certainly being human again! 🤓🙂‍↔️😖😳

May, 2026
It’s time for a two-in-one… a full moon and Beltane. This combination brings up many words… the feminine, awareness of self and others, healing, prosperity, transformation, fertility, proclaiming your truth, boundaries, anticipation, creativity.
Our thoughts and words often become our reality, always, but especially at the time. The old adage, “Be careful what you wish for.” is a timely warning right now! We’re also reminded that in the spiritual world, as in the earthly world, reciprocity is expected. How often do we receive our desires before we ask … and how often are we reminded that it is best to ask?

I was reminded of this years ago when I was driving around the state. Getting in and out of the car became so routine that I forgot to ask my angels for protection… I guess I just took them for granted. I was reminded when I found myself in a lane that was ending – just as the end was there- right there – and the traffic was unbelievably heavy. Luckily, there was a bit of a shoulder! I remember that while waiting for a chance to get back on the highway, I asked my angels why they weren’t helping and immediately 'got’ the response…. Have you asked????? Oops! Always remember to ask your angels, guides, ancestors … whomever you turn to for assistance.

When it is appropriate, asking our earthly helpers is wise, too. This is a time of community, connection, communication. We really are all ‘in this together’, and yet it seems too many of us are living in a “poverty of community,” words from the novel Sipsworth by Simon Van Booy.

Alone or with others, this is a time for creating what you want to see in your life…and if you aren’t able to accomplish this creation in just a few days, don’t give up… every step toward your goal and desire is important.

Our Moonology card reminds us that “Communication is Key.” And our Mary Magdalene cards (two came out of the deck) are tranquility and creation…. Maybe we’ll find some tranquility when we take time to create?

The gospel reading for today is John 10:1-10, in which Jesus refers to himself as a shepherd and a gate for sheep. Another reference about being a shepherd is found in Luke 15:4-7, and Jesus’ ministry gives many accounts of his actions as a leader. This leads to the questions: So, you say you want to be a leader – really? Are you sure? Consider this.

Are you ready for the difficulties? While there are many joys found in leadership, there are also difficulties. Successful leaders commit to giving a lot of their time and energy to the leadership role. Leadership is often a 24-7 responsibility. Are you ready to guide and help all of your people, even those who may not like you or whom you find it hard to like? Are you willing to protect your church or other organization and the people involved like a Mama Bear protects her cubs? Are you ready to stand up, speak out, and put yourself on the line for your people? And, are you ready to try to lead like Jesus did, doing all of these things and others, with a lot of love?

If so, you just may be ready to be a leader! God bless!

Luke 24:13-35 gives us the beloved story often referred to as the Walk to Emmaus. While some of the more prominent of Jesus' followers are hiding behind a locked door, others, like the two in this story, are heading home. Along the way, a stranger approaches, and they start to walk and talk. While some are hiding, these two tell a stranger all about the events of the past few days and their dashed hopes. Then, as is the custom, when they arrive home, they invite the stranger in. During the meal, he takes the bread, gives a blessing, and when he hands them the bread, they recognize him.

What if they hadn’t befriended a stranger? What if they hadn’t shared their faith? What if they hadn’t invited him in?

How many times do we avoid doing similar things – and what might we be missing when we do?
