The Carmelite Community of the Word is a Religious Institute of Diocesan Right. The Sisters pronounce public vows of celibate chastity, poverty and obedience and dedicate themselves to apostolic ministry. Responding in faith to the Word of God, we see ourselves as primarily as women of prayer who choose to engage ourselves actively in ministerial labors that contribute to the building up of the Bo

dy of Christ, particularly in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. Led by the Spirit, we seek this Word as revealed in Scripture and received by the Church in order that our lives might bear fruit in contemplative prayer and apostolic service. Formed in the tradition of Carmel, we seek first the reign of God through lives that unite prayer, penance and service in such a way that we can be called true daughters of the Church.

“Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.” 1 Cor. 11:23-26

An Invitation to Join Us for Spiritual Enrichment
Foundation of Faith: Catechism of the Catholic Church – Part Two

The Catechism Helps Catholics Understand Why the Church Teaches What It Does.

The Catechism is an important book for the Church, yet many Catholics have never read it. Drawing from 2,000 years of Church history, the writings of over 50 saints, and almost every book of the Bible, this foundational document reveals what Catholics are called to believe and how they are called to live, worship, and pray on earth to spend eternity with God in heaven.
The series will utilize DVD’s, presentations and discussion.
Sessions will take place at on February 9, 23, March 2, 23, 30 at CCW Incarnation Center from 10 AM-12N and at the Basilica of Saint Michael in Loretto from 6 – 8 PM. Participants will find it helpful to have a copy of the Catechism for their personal use to read assignments.
Please register by February 4 by contacting:
For sessions held at Incarnation Center: [email protected], [email protected] or call 814-886-4098.
For sessions at Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel call:8144728551 to register.
