We are called to be united in prayer with our diocese and Catholics around the world due to the increasing use of abortion pills in our nation.

Every human life existed in the mind of God before the beginning of creation, with a purpose and a plan, and a God-given dignity, from conception to natural death. Abortion ends the life of the unborn child. Another grave concern with the abortion pill is for the health and well-being of women. During a moment of crisis and fear with an unplanned pregnancy, women are given the option of inducing an abortion with the abortion pill without medical attention, which poses significant dangers to the health of mothers. Most troubling, with the ease of the abortion pill, women are being pressured, coerced, or given abortion drugs without their knowledge or consent.

In response, let us entrust this intention to St. Joseph, Defender of Life. Beginning August 31, we invite you to join us in offering nine days of this prayer for the protection of unborn children, for mothers and families in difficult circumstances, and for a renewed respect for the sacredness of every human life.

Our Lady of Fatima said, "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph" and she asked us to pray, pray, pray.

May we have the grace to persevere in prayer, the courage to defend life, and the merciful heart of Christ to protect the most vulnerable of our society.

Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ, our Lord and God: having completed the course of her earthly life, she was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. This faith, received from the tradition of the Church, was solemnly defined by Pope Pius XII.
