Acts 2:38--Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 2, beginning in verse 14, The apostle Peter lifts his voice and began speaking to the people of Jerusalem as well as the many visitors who were there to observe Pentecost. Peter talked about Jesus. He attested that Jesus proved to be God's Son by the the numerous miracles He performed. He reminded them that they were responsible for His death on the cross. He followed that about talking about the empty tomb. His conclusion was Jesus is Lord and Christ.

Many people in the crowd were cut to the heart and asked what they should do. Peter told them to recite the sinner's prayer and all will be well. WAIT A MINUTE! IS THAT WHAT PETER SAID? The answer is "NO". He told them to repent and be baptized by the authority of Jesus to have their sins forgiven. Now isn't that simple?

John 14:1-3--"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Jesus was saying this to everyone, but not everyone. WHAT!?

Jesus spoke these words to eleven of the apostles. He knew their hearts. He knew what they would be doing the the rest of their lives. He was about to give them final preparations for what was going to take place on the next day and beyond that. He was about to go to prepare a place for them. This place would be with Jesus.

Jesus' words apply to everybody today, but only if we choose to go the way that He has set for us. A part of our belief in God and a part of our belief in Christ is to be obedient to Them. If you are being obedient then Jesus is preparing a place for you. These words should be a comfort to you.
