We are looking for a Media Coordinator for Summer 2026! Could you be who we are looking for?

“Before stepping into the Media Coordinator role, I had no experience working a sound board and I had only touched a ‘real camera’ a couple of times. Working at Camp became the best way to learn all these new skills that I can now I use all the time in my life outside of camp and beyond!”

Media Coordinator Responsibilities
- Photograph camp-wide activities
- Operate sound board for all programs and worship sessions
- Manage lights in the Assembly Hall for all programs and worship sessions
- Present all slides and videos for all programs and worship sessions
- Keep social media updated throughout the summer
- Attend all Team meetings and be a part of regular Team responsibilities
- Lead by example and have a positive attitude!

The Sumatanga family mourns the passing of our spiritual mother, mentor, hero, and friend, Nina Hazel Reeves.

Nina was there at Sumatanga’s founding in 1948, and she’s been our visionary and conscience on every step of our journey. Every part of Sumatanga bears her fingerprints. From AC rock to the lake, from Little Red Mountain to Creel Chapel, Sumatanga is what it is because Nina was who she was. In fact, our Sumatanga family spans every continent, carrying Christ’s love, peace, and justice far beyond our 1,400 acres because Nina dreamed that it would be so and then made it real. From her days driving every byway in Alabama in Rubba’s convertible to these recent years when she couldn’t get out much but received a steady stream of visitors in her home, she never stopped filling the cups of her spiritual children.

From Hokes Bluff to Bluff Park to Belarus, Nina drew her circle wide. She loved you exactly as God made you. The Christ in her saw the Christ in you, even if you lost sight of your true self from time to time. Whatever you were, whatever you became, Nina saw you as the handiwork of the loving and wise creator of the cosmos, and she loved seeing the effect you have on your world.

Nina sought to make a home for us all, and she challenged Sumatanga to continue that legacy. So let us join together and support each other as we contemplate life without her physical presence. Because we won’t really be without Nina. She will be right here with us in the friendships she made possible and the callings she helped us discover. We will feel Nina’s presence each time there is a reunion of old Sumatanga friends. We will hear her voice whenever we contemplate how we are called to share Christ’s love with the world, particularly here on the holy grounds of Sumatanga.

Nina, our hearts are broken, but we know that you made peace with this transition long ago. Well done, good and faithful servant. You showed us the way to heaven, and you showed us that the days between now and then matter.

You showed us how to leave this world better than we found it, sending out ripples of love, kindness, and justice into eternity. Godspeed, dear Nina. We miss you so.
