Happy Labor Day! Today we give thanks for all the ways we work and care for one another—work that earns a paycheck and work that doesn’t, work we love and work we simply do because it needs doing. We remember, too, those seeking work, those unable to work, and those whose labor too often goes unseen or undervalued.
Yesterday, our Prayers of the People included this prayer: “Governing God, turn all who create, enforce, or interpret legislation away from selfish gain and toward your promise of good for all, especially the good of all who labor.”
On this Labor Day, may there be rest for the weary, dignity in every kind of work, and a commitment to the good of all.
