The Second Sunday of Easter is known by several names, such as Thomas Sunday and Low Sunday, but some Episcopal parishes observe this day as Holy Humor Sunday or Bright Sunday and introduce some levity into the liturgy. This is actually a very ancient tradition which is being brought back. It is based on the notion that when Jesus rose from the dead, he laughed in the face of the devil.
