We’re moving on to John 15 next Sunday.

This will be our final outdoor worship of the year. We’re looking at one of
the most popular images used throughout the Bible – a vine.

We’d love to see you for worship and learn what it means to be part of the
vine and even more what happens to every part of the vine at some point or another.

Come ready to think about what love actually looks like in practice.

Isaiah says our righteousness before God is like filthy rags.

Every good deed. Every religious act. Every “I’m trying my best.”
Smelly, moldy, gross.

That’s not meant to shame you. It’s meant to free you.
Because what Jesus offers in exchange is his robe of righteousness.
Not earned. Received.

You are declared holy and right and pure because of Jesus, not because of you.

Every dirty rag you have — he already paid for it.

Jesus says in John 14: there’s a room in God’s house with your name on it.
Prepared. Specifically for you.

We’re moving into John 14 next Sunday.

Jesus has just told his disciples he’s leaving.

They’re confused, afraid, asking questions. And he says: do not let your hearts be troubled.

Then he tells them something about rooms and a Father’s house that has shaped how Christians have understood home and belonging for two thousand years.

Peter says: Lord, I will lay down my life for you.

He means every word of it. He’s sincere. Jesus doesn’t mock him. He receives the pledge. And then he tells Peter exactly what’s coming: before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.

Not a vague warning. Three times. Before morning.
Here’s why that specificity matters:

if the failure comes as a complete surprise, it might end you.
If it comes as something that was already known and named —
you can survive it.

Jesus named it so Peter could survive it.
