Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church strives to be a caring and Christ-centered com

munity of faith, where we exalt God, equip disciples and engage our neighbors, near and far. Our diverse congregation provides rich opportunities to care, search, seek and serve our members "Within our walls" and to reach "Beyond our walls" to our community, nation and world. The GPC family is a vibrant congregation of over 500 members of different backgrounds, cultures, ages, and occupations, characteristic of the DC area. This diversity creates a rich community, as we grow in faith and serve God together. From GPC Pastor Joshua Narcisse, “I hope that this next GPC chapter shows up as Christ’s hands and feet in central Montgomery County, as a congregation that worships with joy, passion, curiosity, and devotion; and that our neighboring schools, businesses, public institutions, and non-profits might consider us their spiritual home and co-laborer in ministry.”

Lay leaders work closely with pastors and staff.

When you think of the awesome majesty of God, what comes to mind? Is it the vastness of the stars on a clear, moonless night? Is it the technicolor spectacle of a sunset after a storm? Is it the intricacies of peony in full bloom? Or perhaps the feeling that emerges when you are with someone who truly sees the good in you? This week we will spend time with Psalm 8, where the writer describes the overwhelming greatness of God, while marveling that it is this same God, creator of the universe, who also knows every little detail about us. It is beyond our ability to comprehend, let alone replicate. The psalmist reminds us in this passage of all God has done, the responsibility we have been given to be good stewards of what we have received, and in all things to give praise the source of all goodness.

Are we intentionally living?

The Holy Spirit reminds us that we are not supposed to stay stuck, unmoved, in our grief. Where is the Spirit pushing you, right now? Even if it's uncomfortable or uncertain, where is God calling you to go so that you may live?

Join us Sunday as we continue this conversation in worship. We can’t wait to see you there! ✝️

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, the birth of the Church! Together we will hear the story of that first Pentecost day, where the Holy Spirit rested on the disciples and compelled them from behind locked doors and onto the streets. The arrival of the Holy Spirit also confronted them with a question: Now that Jesus has walked out of the tomb and ascended into heaven, what now? We’ll explore how the Spirit gave the Early Church the courage to continue following Jesus through the rapidly changing reality they were facing and how that same Spirit enables us to do the same.

This week, Pastor Joshua reminds us that we are not called to rush past our loss because God is still working even in the midst of our grief. The story of the resurrection allows us to hold the hard parts and the hope at the same time.

Today we will turn our attention to one of the most powerful praise Psalms in scripture—Psalm 145. It is a Psalm of David; what makes it unique is that it is entirely devoted to praise. There are no complaints, no petitions—just pure worship. This song of praise is both deeply personal and broadly communal, inviting every generation to join in declaring who God is. So, what does it look like to praise God’s greatness in our daily lives?

The celebration of Older Adults Sunday will guide our worship. As you feel led, spend some time reading and reflecting on the passages in preparation for worship. We will be lead in music by the Joy Singers and Praise Team. Whether in person or online, we hope you’ll join us for worship.

We are still thinking about and giving thanks for the ways this community shows up and loves our neighbors!

A few weeks ago, members of the GPC came together with Rebuild Montgomery to assist with needed home repairs for those in our community. From trash removal and painting to landscaping and patching holes, the day was well spent, and the ending was hard-earned.

Thank you to everyone who came out!

Over 30 expecting mothers were celebrated at our community baby shower in partnership with Mujer Fuerza y Coraje! GPC’s Lenten Mission project contributed over 35 donated baby baskets to support families, including many affected by ICE operations or navigating difficult circumstances.

The event also featured a community resource fair, cultural performances, food, and a secondhand baby items shop.

We give thanks for the ways we are able to lean into the abundance God has granted us and give with grateful hearts.

This morning, we observe Mother’s Day. We will unpack the story of Moses’s birth and the many mothers who had a hand in his life, from the midwives to his birth mother. Together, we will explore the caring and complex ministry of mothering that Moses experienced and that we navigate in each of our stories.

This week, Pastor Joshua reminds us that in the midst of our grief, things do not always hold themselves together. We do not always see things as they are meant; and that is okay. It is more than okay — it is expected.

Death never has the final say. New life is possible and promised. Yet, the road to resurrection does not erase the grief we experience along the way, and it is often more bearable when we share in it with one another.
