Jesus gives another clear and searching picture of the kingdom in The Parable of the Wedding Feast.

“Behold, I have prepared my dinner… come unto the marriage” (Matthew 22:4, KJV).

The invitation is generous. The feast is ready. But not everyone who is invited is willing to come. Some are too busy. Some do not take it seriously. And in the end, the Lord makes it clear that responding to His call is not something to be treated lightly.

This parable reminds us that God’s invitation is a great blessing, but it also calls for a real response. It is not enough to be near the things of God or familiar with them from a distance. We must answer His call with humility, gratitude, and obedience.

Join us April 15 at 7:00 PM as Luke brings this lesson from God’s word.

Jesus adds to the series of kingdom parables with a sobering image.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind…”
(Matthew 13:47, NKJV)

The net gathers broadly.

Good and bad.
Committed and casual.
Faithful and false.

For a time, they are together.

But not together forever.

“When it was full, they drew to shore… and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.” (Matthew 13:48, NKJV)

The kingdom invites widely.
But judgment comes personally.

The question is not, “Am I near the net?”
The question is, “Will I remain when the sorting comes?”

Jesus does not tell this story to create fear, but clarity.

There is a day when proximity will not be enough.

Two short parables. One unmistakable point.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field…
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls…”
(Matthew 13:44–45, NKJV)

In both stories, something happens: They see.

And once they truly see the value, the decision is immediate.

They sell all.
Not reluctantly.
But with joy.

The kingdom of God is not an obligation to manage.
It is a treasure to secure.

The question isn’t, “What must I give up?”
The question is, “Have I seen its worth?”

Because when you truly see the treasure, everything else looks small. And the Kingdom is worth selling all.

In the ancient world, dinner invitations were strategic.

You invited:
• Those who elevated your status.
• Those who could return the favor.
• Those who secured your future.

But Jesus describes a different kingdom.

A kingdom where:
• The forgotten are honored.
• The overlooked are welcomed.
• The powerless are given the best seat.

“When you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind…”

The kingdom of Jesus rearranges the table.

Who would be sitting at yours?

Come Wednesday at 7:00 pm to hear about this parable.
