Join Alachua County for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the East Tumblin Creek and Forest Edge housing communities, two transformative projects providing safe, stable housing for some of our community’s most vulnerable residents.

These former motel properties have been thoughtfully redeveloped into permanent housing as part of a communitywide effort to reduce homelessness and expand access to supportive services. East Tumblin Creek features 36 one-bedroom units, while Forest Edge includes 31 efficiency units, along with shared amenities like a community center, computer lab, library resources, and laundry facilities.
This milestone reflects Alachua County’s ongoing commitment to reducing homelessness through proven, compassionate solutions.
💬 “Providing safe, stable housing for our most vulnerable residents is not just a responsibility, it is one of Alachua County’s highest priorities,” said County Commission Chair Ken Cornell.
